President Obama seemed to outdo his outrageous behavior of recent years, but the totally rude and disrespectful act of not attending Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s funeral.
He is the first President to skip the funeral of a sitting Supreme Court Justice, while showing up for his wake for a whopping two minutes. Not exactly the definition of ‘paying your respects.’ More like a case of sending a powerful message that he did not like, support or care about the Supreme Court Justice, and was probably very happy for him to die under suspicious circumstances. According to Western Journalism:
In a move that many believe is disrespectful and unprecedented, President Obama did not attend the funeral of conservative Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, making him the only president in U.S. history to miss the funeral of a sitting supreme court justice.
Instead of attending the funeral, the president and first lady opted to attend Scalia’s wake, stopping by the casket for approximately two minutes before leaving early. While Obama did pay his respects, the brevity of the whole affair has led to questions of Obama’s sincerity.
Furthermore, it has been noted that Obama made great efforts to attend certain funerals, while specifically dodging those of conservative heroes. In addition to Obama missing the funeral of Justice Scalia, he also missed the funerals of Margaret Thatcher and Chris Kyle.
The President’s behavior will do nothing to alleviate the accusations of treason and sedition this President has worked very hard to earn. He has shown true contempt for the values that made the United States great, and now is ‘flipping the bird’ to the conservative Supreme Court Justice who did his best to uphold the Constitution he was sworn to uphold.
Too bad this President can’t do the same. Too bad the roles weren’t reversed and Justice Scalia could skip the President’s funeral – then again, he had too much class and dignity to do that.
