Donald Trump could not believe what he heard.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller was popping champagne corks.
And it’s all because this judge delivered some bad news that President Trump never wanted to hear.
Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russian collusion investigation ran into the dead-end of reality.
Eventually, all the fake news media hype and speculation would have to come to an end and the rubber would meet the road.
Mueller couldn’t play games forever, and it is apparent to everyone involved that Mueller will not have any evidence of Trump-Russian collusion.
But that does not mean Mueller is throwing in the towel on his crusade to remove the President from office.
Far from it.
In fact, Mueller passed off the most dangerous investigation to prosecutors in the Southern District of New York.
Mueller knew that investigating Michael Cohen’s supposed campaign finance violations was so far beyond his mandate that not even he could justify it.
So he laundered the investigation through federal prosecutors in Manhattan.
Prosecutors in the Southern District of New York squeezed Cohen to plead guilty to imaginary campaign finance violations for supposedly paying hush money to Stormy Daniels who claimed she had an affair with Donald Trump over a decade ago.
Cohen also confessed to making these payments at Donald Trump’s direction.
A judge sentenced Cohen to three years in prison.
But that was not the end of the story.
Judge William Pauley revealed the investigation is still ongoing.
Pauley decided to reveal some of the information about what the FBI obtained from raiding Cohen’s home because it could compromise an ongoing investigation.
“This court concludes that disclosure of the materials with redactions strikes an appropriate balance between the strong presumption of public access to search warrant materials and the countervailing interests identified by the Government,” Judge Pauley began.
“In particular, the government represents that aspects of its investigation remain ongoing, including those pertaining to or arising from Cohen’s campaign finance crimes,” the Judge continued.
Pauley wrote that the search warrant included a “catalogue an assortment of uncharged individuals and detail their involvement in communications and transactions connected to the campaign finance charges to which Cohen pled guilty.”
“At this stage, wholesale disclosure of the Materials would reveal the scope and direction of the Government’s ongoing investigation,” wrote Pauley, adding, “[i]t would also unveil subjects of the investigation and the potential conduct under scrutiny, the full volume and nature of the evidence gathered thus far, and the sources of information provided to the Government.”
Pauley making reference to uncharged individuals who are still subjects of the investigation means only one thing – federal prosecutors are building a case to charge Donald Trump and threaten him with jail time unless he resigns.
You could not wipe the smile off Robert Mueller’s face.
This was exactly how he hoped events would play out when he referred Cohen’s case to the Southern District of New York.
