Christian B&B Owner Makes A Stand, ”No, We Won’t Host Your Gay Wedding”

A Christian-based Bed and Breakfast in Texas recently made a stand against the call for using his business as a same-sex wedding venue.

The owner put out an ad clearly addressing his view on the matter – “No, we won’t host your gay wedding.”

The ad was released in response to the growing number of demands for use of the popular bed and breakfast as a wedding venue for homosexuals and the transgender population in their community.

The owner of the popular Texas Forest Country Weddings, Bob Flournoy, made it clear their Christian faith prohibits them from participating in such events.

Life Site news reports:

“Our Christian faith demands that we not participate in same- sex, transgender, or any other perversion of marriage” the ad said.” If you disagree with our stance on marriage, please respect our Christian belief and have your marriage elsewhere.”

The owner’s wife shares similar beliefs on the matter, and supported his placement of the ad in their community’s local paper. Flournoy also addressed the matter on their business’s blog.

Life Site news reports:

“My wife and I have been placed in a situation where we face the choice of giving up the freedom by which God has made us free or bow down to the ungodly and perverse conduct of those who want to marry the same sex or claim they are some sex other than what God made them to be.”

He continues on to say that his choice is not his own, and that he is merely following his belief system. Flournoy also comments that he is not the only private business being terrorized by groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union.

Many bakeries, florists, and musicians who refuse to cater to same-sex and transgender events are receiving backlash from equal rights groups.

Though many disagreed with Flournoy’s publication of the ad, the response from the general community was positive. Local pastors, Christian based groups, and Church leaders responded after he called out for them to stand up for their faith and their beliefs, regardless of the consequences.

Life Site News reports:

“According to Flournoy, pastors, Christians, and Church leaders need to ‘wake up and begin to stand up’ because ‘ together we can remain the land of the free when we prove that we are the home of the brave.”

Furthermore, Flournoy states that he is unafraid of legal action and is fairly confident he would win in a court case due to the Texas Religious Freedom Act, as well as claiming his Constitutional First Amendment rights of free speech and religious action.

Flourney is just one of many who is taking a stance against government interference in local business. By allowing such groups as the ACLU to bully private enterprises, the country is losing what makes it a democracy in the first place: choice.

The owner also mentioned the country is being overrun by corruption from other political groups as well as the homosexual/transgender communities.

Life Site News reports:

“They intend to stop the teaching and preaching of the Word of God that does not align with their idea of a politically correct culture,” he wrote.” Whole portions of the Word will be declared hate speech and outlawed. The tax exempt status of Churches will be removed by the government. As we speak, the government is forcing some churches to accept the transgender agenda and provide accommodation for them.”

What are your thoughts? Is it time for more local business owners to stop being so sensitive to government and community influence?

Or should business owners simply comply with what the community wants, despite their belief systems?
