Former Trump Lawyer Michael Cohen pled guilty to charges brought against him in trial earlier this week.
With Paul Manafort also on the hot seat, the media has been in a firestorm accusing Trump of colluding.
But where Cohen is guilty, Trump is innocent.
Michael Cohen pled guilty to charges brought against him regarding campaign finance law violations.
He made a plea deal with a prosecutor for the Southern District of New York regarding campaign finance laws.
Mark Levin of Fox News believes this was a bad move on his part, however.
“All right. I want to address Michael Cohen. How did we get to that? I want to help the law professors, the constitutional experts, the criminal defense lawyers, the former prosecutors and of course, the professors. I want to help them understand what the law is.”
The general counsel for the Clinton mob family, Lanny Davis, he had his client pleaded two counts of criminality that don’t exist. These campaign finance violations that is all over TV, they are saying implicates the president of the United States directly.
First, let’s back up. It is a guilty plea. It is a plea bargain between a prosecutor and a criminal. A criminal who doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life in prison. That is not precedent. That applies only to that specific case. Nobody cites plea bargains for precedent. That’s number one.
Donald Trump is in the clear. Let’s say Donald Trump even directed Michael Cohen to make payments in non-disclosure agreements. So what? He can do that.
“By making payments to two women for the principal purpose of influencing an election. If those payments were a crime for Michael Cohen then why wouldn’t they be a crime for Donald Trump?”
They weren’t a crime for Michael Cohen. He screwed himself. And they’re not a crime for Donald Trump either. Now move along and go back into your corner with Hillary Clinton.
A Call for Impeachment Based on Lies
After Cohen’s plea, Democrats speculated that Trump would be impeached as a result.
But Trump stood up for himself and everything he has done thus far in his presidency.
As President Trump put it, impeachment is for “high crimes and misdemeanors” and that what Cohen pled guilty to was not even a crime.
“I don’t know how you can impeach somebody who’s done a great job,” Trump said in an interview on Fox and Friends. “If I ever got impeached I think the market would crash, I think everybody would be very poor because without this thinking you would see numbers that you wouldn’t believe in reverse.”
Even Trump admitted that Cohen made a great deal with prosecutors to avoid serious jail time for crimes that were unrelated to Trump’s campaign.
Do you believe Trump is in danger of impeachment?
Do you think Cohen made a smart plea deal?
