The East Coast has been preparing for Hurricane Florence for weeks now.
In the wake of a potential natural disaster, the government is taking extra precautions.
But Democrats started smearing Trump well ahead of the aftermath.
On the Verge of Disaster
Hurricane Florence made landfall in North Carolina on Thursday.
The damage will likely be extensive, and recovery will take time and resources.
But Democrats are already going after Trump.
They claim that Trump is giving a “poor response” to the hurricane.
One Democrat ripped into Trump worse than most.
Illinois Rep. Luis Gutierrez appeared on “All In” on MSNBC earlier this week.
He claimed that Trump is not prepared for the hurricane at all.
“You know what I fear, is the calamity, because of the lack of coordination of the government, with the National Guard, and with local government,” Gutierrez said. “The lack of responsiveness and preparedness of this government, because the president wants to find out who was the one that wrote that op-ed piece about the chaos in the White House.”
“He’s so consumed by the calamity in the chaos that exists, he’s not really prepared and focused, because he spends every weekend golfing, instead of preparing.”
He also criticized Trump on his action with FEMA.
The Role of the Federal Emergency Management Agency
FEMA is a part of the Department of Homeland Security.
The agency puts systems into place in case of natural disasters.
Its goal is to ensure the United States can recover after any disaster.
They also plan resources in case of manmade disasters or terrorist attacks.
FEMA responded to the attacks on 9/11 and more recently with smaller scale attacks.
FEMA is one of the key agencies in the government.
And Trump ensured that he fixed it as soon as he took office.
15 of the top agents at FEMA are new to the agency under Trump.
The 15 agents replaced managers that Obama put into place when he was president.
This was part of the plan to drain the swamp, and you can read more about it on Conservative Revival.
But Gutierrez took a jab at Trump for the one thing he did to help the agency.
“You know, 15 of the top managers at FEMA are acting, they aren’t even in their permanent positions, they haven’t even taken time to get them their jobs.”
And before the interview was even over, the representative issued a threat to Trump.
He criticized Trump’s reaction to the disaster in Puerto Rico last year.
He claimed people died because of the president’s “laziness.”
But Trump responded with appropriate measures.
And this was not the first time he was faced with natural disaster.
Read more about it on American Patriot Daily.
The casualties in Puerto Rico were the result of a catastrophic natural disaster, not a lack of response by the U.S.
And Representative Gutierrez was just looking for another way to place blame on Trump.
Bracing for Hurricane Florence
The East Coast is bracing for the damage of Hurricane Florence.
Virginia, Maryland, D.C., and the Carolinas have issued states of emergency.
North and South Carolina have issued mandatory evacuations.
And schools across the East Coast are closed to keep students and staff safe.
Despite what Democrats claim, Trump is prepared to assist in the aftermath of the deadly storm.
Do you believe Hurricane Florence will have a devastating impact?
Do you think the Dems are using the storm in their witch hunt against the president?
