Michelle Obama has spent eight years living high off the hog.
Her extravagant vacation spending has made waves, causing howls of criticism from fiscal watchdogs.
But one First Lady taught Michelle Obama a big time lesson.
During her husband’s time in office, Michelle Obama has enjoyed a jet-setting lifestyle.
Her jaunts across the globe have racked up massive expenses for which the taxpayers were forced to foot the bill.
Tom Fitton, the President of Judicial Watch, wrote in Newsmax:
“They are part of continuum reaching back across to the earliest days of the Obama administration. Recently, Judicial Watch obtained flight expense records from the U.S. Department of the Air Force revealing that Michelle Obama’s June 2015 trip to the United Kingdom and Italy, accompanied by her daughters and mother, cost the taxpayers $240,495.67 in flight expenses alone.
The records were released in response to a Freedom of Information (FOIA) request filed on June 22, 2015. The flights to London, England; and Milan, Venice, and Vicenza, Italy, for the June 15 – 21, 2015, trip totaled 20:35 hours at the cost of $11,684 per hour, bringing the flight expense total to $240,495.67, according to the Air Force documents. “
Another week-long trip to China for Michelle Obama, her two daughters and her mother cost nearly $400,000.
Fitton also described the millions of dollars the Obama family spent on vacations to Africa and Honolulu:
Judicial Watch uncovered an expensive combination of trips by the Obamas to Africa and Honolulu, which cost taxpayers $15,885,585.30 in flight expenses alone. The single largest prior known expense for accommodations was for Michelle Obama’s side-trip to Dublin, Ireland, during the 2013 G-8 conference in Belfast, when she and her entourage booked 30 rooms at the five-star Shelbourne Hotel, and where she stayed in the 1500 square-foot Princess Grace suite at a cost of $3,500 a night.
Critics have blasted the Obama’s for using taxpayers like a credit card and charging expenses for personal business to their bill.
Some Americans might be willing to overlook like this profligate spending if Michelle Obama appeared the least bit grateful.
But her time on the national stage has been marked by constant criticism of America which leaves the impression she isn’t a very big fan of her country.
During Obama’s 2008 campaign, Michelle Obama famously declared that the election of her husband would be the first time she was proud of her country.
And she used her final commencement speech as First Lady to remark that she wakes up every day in a house built by slaves.
But not every Chief Executive’s wife takes their position for granted.
Ann LePage is the First Lady of Maine.
Her husband, Paul LePage, was elected in the Tea Party wave of 2010 and was re-elected in 2014.
They hold a completely opposite opinion on how a first family should conduct their affairs.
Mrs. LePage wanted to purchase a car – so she did what normal Americans do when they are about to incur an additional expense – she picked up a summer job to earn the money she needed.
She’s working at McSeagulls in Boothbay, Maine to bring in the extra cash to pay for her new automobile.
Could you picture Michelle Obama working a summer job?
