Missouri Deals Blow to Planned Parenthood

You can just sense the lawsuits about to be filed now that Missouri lawmakers have passed a bill to ensure parental consent for minors desiring an abortion. It’s a move sure to upset the Planned Parenthood juggernaut, and likely result in legal action. According to Conservative Tribune:

According to KMOV, girls under the age of 18 in the state of Missouri will now be required to inform both of their parents before having the procedure performed.

The bill overwhelmingly passed the Missouri House by a vote of 121-34, and would require the submission of written consent from at least one parent and written proof of notification from the other parent before abortion doctors would be allowed to proceed with their deadly deed.

As the law stands right now, a minor only needs written consent from one parent in order to obtain an abortion.

There are some exemptions to the proposed law, such as for the children of parents convicted of crimes like child abuse.

Of course, opponents of the bill were quick to point out that not all abusive parents are convicted of their crimes, and worry that some young girls will be put in the unenviable position of having to choose between informing both of their parents about their desire to obtain an abortion, or seeking out an illegal and highly dangerous alternative method to rid themselves of an unwanted pregnancy.

One would think that there would already be a law requiring the notification of both parents when a minor in their care is seeking an abortion, but at least Missouri is moving in the right direction by acknowledging parental rights in their efforts to make abortions more safe and rare.

It really comes down to, again, the philosophical argument between liberals and conservatives, who owns your children? The State, which includes Planned Parenthood, believes they know best and should be allowed to insert themselves between parent and child.

Conservatives rightly understand that children are the responsibility of the parents…and God..and the State has nothing to do with it.

This new bill will ensure a little extra protection to parents wishing to raise their children with certain principles.

“The State, which includes Planned Parenthood, believes they know best
and should be allowed to insert themselves between parent and child.” Until the kid does something wrong/stupid, then the parents are hauled into court, even if the child acted on information provided BY the government/public school.
