National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster is under fire for his recent purge of the National Security Council.
McMaster was accused of purging the NSC due to where the loyalties of the employees laid, no one was questioning their competence.
But new details were just released that paint a new picture– one in which H.R. McMaster may be the villain after all.
More information was just revealed about McMaster’s reasons for letting go three security council members in particular.
McMaster’s ideologies regarding how a department should run are potentially inhibiting free speech, and leading to the unfair termination of employees.
The National Security Advisor was also accused of terminating their employment due to a difference in political views– even though the terminated employees claimed their political views aligned with President Trump.
Breitbart News reported:
All three who were fired were given vague reasons why they were being let go, but they believe it was because they supported the president’s nationalist foreign policy agenda, according to sources close to them who did not feel comfortable speaking on the record. None of the sources have ever worked at Breitbart News.
The first casualty was Rich Higgins, who penned a memo warning that “globalists, bankers, Islamists, and establishment Republicans” were seeking to destroy the president.
On Tuesday, July 18, Higgins was brought into the White House counsel’s office and asked about the memo and what it was for. He was asked, “What if it leaked?” Higgins told the council, “We’re not trying to leak it.” He told them it was so that people from the campaign understood what they were up against.
The same individual was told he was being let go because the council members “lost confidence” in him.
McMaster is also being targeted for his handling of foreign policy– another hot topic surrounding several terminations.
H.R. McMaster has openly sided against Trump when it comes to their views on Islamic radicalism.
While President Trump consistently pushes that the terrorists are inherently linked to the Muslim faith, McMaster claims the two are not one and the same.
Another employee lost his position as a result of his different political views– once again still siding with Trump on the matter.
The source said McMaster fired Harvey because he wanted to support the president’s foreign policy agenda, which McMaster disagreed with “on nearly every” major area, including the Paris Climate Agreement, NAFTA, interventionism, Afghanistan, and whether there is such thing as “radical Islam.”
The source close to Harvey said McMaster believed that the idea of a “radical Islam” was “fallacious” and that terrorists were “just criminals.” McMaster’s attempts to scrub any mention of “radical Islam” from Trump’s speeches has been widely reported.
President Trump has certainly taken notice of the changes in the National Security Council and has even expressed his displeasure with McMaster.
Although Trump has repeatedly stuck up for McMaster, the source said that the president has expressed impatience during meetings.
Asked whether Trump is aware of McMaster’s ideological differences, the source said, “Yes, I think he’s aware. He’s made comments before, like ‘You aren’t listening to me,’ and ‘I told you I’m not going to be doing things the same stupid way that’s been done in the last 18 years.”
In an interview with NBC News on Sunday, McMaster indicated more could be pushed out of the NSC.
Do you think McMaster should still hold his job after he abused his power and terminated Trump-supporters?
