Schwarzenegger Pondering Major Move Because Of Trump

Some people fall so hard from grace.

Once one of the biggest movie stars in the world, Arnold Schwarzenegger tossed his action star persona aside to become an awful Republican governor of liberal California in 2003.

Fast forward to 2017, and Arnold Schwarzenegger and President Trump have been actively feuding in the public eye for months now.

And as it turns out, Trump may have inadvertently inspired the former movie star to make a major move.

Breitbart reports:

“Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is reportedly considering a run for U.S. Senate in 2018 when incumbent Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) is said to be considering retirement.

Several media outlets report that Schwarzenegger, who recently raised his profile with a series of Twitter clashes with President Donald Trump, is thinking of re-entering the political fray after several years’ absence.

Politico’s Carla Marinucci reports: ‘The prospect of Schwarzenegger’s return to elected politics in a 2018 U.S. Senate run — possibly as an independent — is generating increasing buzz in state Republican circles, fueled by the former governor’s seeming ability to get under the skin of President Donald Trump on social media.’

Schwarzenegger also opposed Trump in the Republican presidential primary, backing Ohio governor John Kasich instead.

If elected, Schwarzenegger could pose a significant opposition threat to the Trump administration on issues such as climate change. California’s controversial cap-and-trade system was introduced under Schwarzenegger’s administration.

However, Schwarzenegger will have to confront his own political record along the way.

Though he was re-elected to a second term in 2006, Schwarzenegger is mostly remembered for leaving the state in a fiscal mess after abandoning the reform agenda that brought him to office in the first place.”

The feud between the president and Arnold has been going on for a while.

On January 6th, while he was still President-elect, Trump took to Twitter to criticize The Apprentice star’s ratings – Trump’s old show, but one he still executively produces.

Arnold Schwarzenegger didn’t respond immediately, but when President Trump casually brought it up again during the National Prayer Breakfast nearly a month later, he clapped back with a video message in a tweet.

Donald Trump continues to bring up Schwarzenegger and the show’s declining ratings because Trump created the show and continues to executively produce it – although he has no direct creative involvement – and it is failing.

And when Schwarzenegger most recently announced he would not return for the next season, he pointed to the “baggage” surrounding the show, referring to President Trump.

In reality, it was because of the poor ratings.

President Trump seems to have inspired Schwarzenegger’s comeback in politics  because, clearly, his television and movie career comeback has squandered – although he was largely received as a terrible governor too, with 3 out of 4 California voters having a negative image of him when he left office.

So the question is, will Schwarzenegger have better success with a comeback political career than he did with his TV career?
