The Queen Bee of social justice warriors, Lena Dunham, heinously joked recently that “I can say that I still haven’t had an abortion, but I wish I had.”
Dunham’s distasteful joke trivialized an issue that is deeply personal to people who want to give every life the best chance it can get.
But what just happened in Texas, however, is no joke.
The State of Texas gave the abortion-giant Planned Parenthood a final notice on Tuesday that it will cut-off its participation in funding from the Medicaid program.
A letter crafted from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to Planned Parenthood said it was,
“not qualified to provide medical services in a professionally competent, safe, legal, and ethical manner.”
Last year alone, Planned Parenthood received $4.5 million in Medicaid funding.
Late last year, HHSC issued an order that banned participation, but now it’s finally coming to fruition.
The action was taken by the HHSC in response to the gruesome videos filmed at various Planned Parenthood facilities across the country.
In conjunction with the 2015 HHSC letter, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced his LIFE Initiative program designed to provide even greater protections for children in the womb.
The initiative will also ban the gruesome sale of baby body parts to their affiliates.
Part of Abbott’s initiative calls for new legislation, and the reason Texas can void the funding under this new jurisdiction is because of Planned Parenthood’s violation of Medicaid rules.
The Office of Inspector General of the HHSC sent the official letter to several Planned Parenthood’s across the state.
The HHSC wrote:
“The basis for your termination and the termination of your affiliates stems from an extensive undercover video obtained by the Center for Medical Progress at the Planned Parenthood Gulf Freeway facility in April 2015, which contains evidence that Planned Parenthood violated state and federal law.
The evidence arises from detailed discussions with the Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast’s staff.”
The unedited video footage indicates that Planned Parenthood follows a policy of agreeing to procure fetal tissue, potentially for valuable consideration, even if it means altering the timing or method of an abortion.
These practices violate accepted medical standards, as reflected in federal and state law, and are Medicaid program violations that justify termination.”
According to the Associated Press, Planned Parenthood says it will file a lawsuit to halt the defunding of clinics.
The President of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards, was reported to have immediately charged the State of Texas as “a cautionary tale for the rest of the nation.”
This means they’re scared and that’s good news.
At the time the order was first released in October 2015, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said:
“Texas has stepped forward and shown its unyielding commitment to both protecting life and providing women’s health services … The gruesome harvesting of baby body parts by Planned Parenthood will not be allowed in Texas and the barbaric practice must be brought to an end.
As such, ending the Medicaid participation of Planned Parenthood affiliates in the State of Texas is another step in providing greater access to safe healthcare for women while protecting our most vulnerable – the unborn.”
The time is now. Let’s send a message to Planned Parenthood and other states that the days of killing the unborn are over.
