Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz appeared recently on MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews to discuss her thoughts on the Republican presidential race.
As Wasserman-Schultz trotted out the same weary talking points she always does, Matthews posed an innocent question that threw her completely off balance and left her floundering in front of the cameras.
He asked her, “What’s the difference between a Democrat and a socialist?”
As the chair of the Democratic National Committee who has a self-described socialist presidential candidate caucusing with her party (Bernie Sanders), this should have been an easy question for her to answer.
Instead, she deflected and waffled then seemed to finally give up on trying to answer.
Watch as Wasserman-Schultz flails awkwardly on national television:
Don’t you think it would be a good idea for the chair of the DNC to know the difference between a democrat and a socialist?
