A group of celebrities recently made a video trying to influence Electoral College members to change their vote, but not necessarily in Clinton’s favor, or so they.
Specifically, the video was made to question the votes of Republicans in the Electoral College.
The Daily Caller reports:
They say they aren’t asking Republican electors to vote for Hillary, just to not vote for Trump. If enough of them do so, they point out, the choice of the next president would fall to the House of Representatives, where Republicans hold the majority.
These out of touch celebrities are the perfect example of which Trump’s platform does not represent – the hard working, struggling middle class Americans, whose votes put him in position of President in the first place.
Hollywood’s elite took to social media to “urge electoral college members not to vote for Trump”.
CNS News reports:
The video is produced by Unite for America, a group formed to try to prevent Trump from becoming president. The video begins with actor Martin Sheen saying, “Our Founding Fathers built the Electoral College to safeguard the American people from the dangers of a demagogue and to ensure that the presidency only goes to someone who is to an eminent degree, endowed with the requisite qualifications.”
The video features A-list actors such as Martin Sheen and Noah Wyle calling for a change in the election results.
In the video, the celebrities somberly quote from the Constitution, claiming a leader is needed whom without an “eminent doubt” can lead the country. In their unpopular opinion, corrupt Hillary Clinton would be a better option.
Donald Trump is clearly blue-collar America’s choice for change so as to better the economic and political status quo that has befallen across America under Obama’s administration.
Though the cowardly actors do not call out Trump specifically at first, their cry is pointedly made to recount the election results, and “change the course of history.”
They also falsely claim that Electoral College members do not have to vote for their state’s choice in candidate. Yet, in reality, many will be fined if they change their vote.
The group, known as United for America, urges others to reconsider the election results as well.
The Daily Caller reports:
The group, called “Unite For America,” argues, “Only 37 Electors are needed to change the course of history,” and encourages Americans to make their own video appeal to the Electoral College
Regardless of stands made by those who do not wish to see Trump as leader of the country, the Electoral College is set to vote on December 19th and confirm Trump’s victory without question.
The Hill reports:
Thirty-seven GOP electors would have to switch their votes to someone other than Trump to delay making his election official, a highly unlikely feat.
Despite media coverage, chatter and protests from a handful of electors, only one GOP elector has publicly vowed not to vote for Trump. Virtually every other Republican elector The Hill has contacted has said they will vote enthusiastically for the president-elect.
What are your thoughts? Do you believe elitist celebrities have the right to try to change the status quo in their favor?
Should Electoral College members be allowed to vote their choice?
