This Earth-Shattering Scandal Could Be The End of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez found herself in the middle of another political firestorm.

The Socialist Congresswoman’s shady conduct is about to catch up to her.

And now this earth-shattering scandal could mark the end of her career.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is the most popular political figure on the far left today.

But while the Socialist Congresswoman is busy pushing her radical Green New Deal, there’s a silent scandal that is slowly but surely eating away at her political future.

This scandal could mark the end of her relatively short career, and possibly leave her or her staff in jail.

The Washington Examiner reports, “Two political action committees founded by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s top aide funneled over $1 million in political donations into two of his own private companies, according to a complaint filed with the Federal Election Commission on Monday.”

It seems that Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign for Congress was originally nothing more than a conduit to funnel money to Saikat Chakrabarti, the man who now serves as her Chief of Staff.

The claims filed to the Federal Election Commission state that money transfers from PACs run by Chakrabarti run directly against Ocasio-Cortez’s promise to increase transparency and refuse the power of “dark money” in American politics.

But Chakrabarti’s PACs and the companies he helps to run seem to exist solely in order to hide how political donations to Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign were used.

“The arrangement skirted reporting requirements and may have violated the $5,000 limit on contributions from federal PACs to candidates, according to the complaint filed by the National Legal and Policy Center, a government watchdog group,” adds the Washington Examiner.

Make no mistake, this scandal could take down Ocasio-Cortez and potentially land members of her staff behind bars if the complaints end up being validated by the FEC.

The complaint being brought to the FEC is quite serious too, and alleges that hundreds of thousands of dollars were funneled to Ocasio-Cortez’s new Chief of Staff.

The complaint was brought forward by the National Legal and Policy Center’s Government Integrity Project, a conservative government watchdog organization which looks into finance reports to catch instances like the kind detailed in their complaint.

Tom Anders, director of the NLPCGI stated, “It appears Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her associates ran an off-the-books operation to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars, thus violating the foundation of all campaign finance laws: transparency.”

Chakrabarti, who is found to be at the center of the complaint, is a socialist himself who served as an organizer for Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign.

After Sanders’ campaign ended, he founded a PAC called “Brand New Congress” in 2016 and another called “Justice Democrats” in 2017. These two organizations exist to elect far-left Democrats to Congress. One of those candidates ended up being Ocasio-Cortez.

A few weeks after starting the Brand New Congress PAC, Chakrabarti formed another company, Brand New Campaign LLC.

Over the next seven months in 2017, as small-dollar political donations poured into his PAC from progressive activists across the country, the PAC transferred over 80% of its contributions to Brand New Campaign LLC. The payments were for “strategic consulting,” according to FEC filings.

New Congress PAC also transferred another $240,000 to Brand New Congress LLC, again for “strategic consulting.” Justice Democrats meanwhile transferred over $600,000 to Brand New Congress LLC in 2017.

“Brand New Congress LLC does not appear to be registered in any state, according to state government records available online. It is unclear where or when it was incorporated,” reports the Washington Examiner.

Highlighting how serious the case is, Adav Noti, the senior director of the Campaign Legal Center and a former FEC lawyer, said Chakrabarti’s activities were extremely odd and appeared to intentionally cloak where the money was going.

“None of that makes any sense,” said Noti. “I can’t even begin to disentangle that. They’re either confused or they’re trying to conceal something.”

We will keep you up to date with any new developments in this ongoing story.
