Never underestimate the power of the pen.
Throughout his Presidency, Obama has used his pen to veto sound legislation and advance the agenda of a bloated federal government.
Liberals have enjoyed Obama’s 8-year political dominance, as he smugly shoved his radical leftist agenda down the throats of everyday Americans.
Burdensome federal regulations have broken the bank accounts of countless numbers of hard working Americans.
Federal agencies have gone rouge, knowing they can do whatever they want because Obama would back them up.
The repercussions of the Obama administration have been crushing, and voters sent a loud and clear message when they overwhelmingly elected Donald Trump as America’s next President.
Donald Trump’s victory is a serious game changer.
Just by his signature alone, Donald Trump now has the power to undue dozens of Obama’s crippling regulations.
A 20-year old law, The Congressional Review Act, allows Congress 60 legislative days to review all federal regulations and eliminate the ones they don’t want.
Republicans have tried this measure over the years and failed, because Obama has vetoed the law every time it’s crossed his desk.
However, with Republicans controlling Congress and the White House now, Trump is said to approve of all regulations Congress wishes to axe.
And according to The New York Times, once Congress strikes down a rule, federal agencies are prohibited from enacting the same regulation again.
The New York Times reports:
“On Jan. 20, when Mr. Trump takes office with a Republican-controlled Congress — one that has indicated its zeal for undoing President Obama’s doings — more than 150 rules adopted since late May are potentially vulnerable to the ax, according to an analysis by the George Washington University Regulatory Studies Center.
“It allows the election results to be applied almost retroactively, to snip off activity that happened at the end of the last administration,” said Adam Levitin, a law professor at Georgetown.
The regulations at risk include:
■ Many environmental mandates, including limits on formaldehyde use and stricter truck fuel efficiency rules;
■ A Food and Drug Administration ban on the sale of antibacterial soaps;
■ A requirement that federal contractors provide paid sick leave for their workers;
■ Stricter consumer protections on prepaid debit cards;
■ Federal loan forgiveness for students at schools that shut down;
■ A rule that bars nursing homes that receive federal funding from requiring residents to resolve all disputes through arbitration, rather than in court.”
Bloated federal agencies are terrified of Trump using his power to virtually eliminate all the regulations Obama has based his political legacy on.
And as American Patriot Daily previously reported, Obama’s dread is setting in as he realizes his version of America has been rejected by the will of the American people.
With Obama’s America a distant memory, Trump vows to begin making America great again.
With Trump in the White House, and a Republican controlled Congress, Obama’s liberal pals are powerless to stop the conservative wave that is gearing up to hit Washington DC.
Do you think Congress should use the Congressional Review Act to strike down burdensome federal regulations?
Do you agree that undoing Obama’s regulations should be a top priority for President-elect Donald Trump?
