Ilhan Omar continues to make a name for herself in Congress.
Unfortunately, it is for all the wrong reasons.
And now Ilhan Omar was caught red-handed in a scheme to break the law and you won’t believe her punishment.
Ilhan Omar – along with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and 95 other left-wing radicals – is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
This group exists to force Congress to impose socialism on America.
But they are cutting legal corners and just got caught with their hand in the cookie jar on a scheme to violate federal law.
Critics accuse the Progressive Caucus of working hand-in-glove with the 501c(3) nonprofit Congressional Progressive Caucus Center to have the taxpayer-subsidized group pay for staffers.
Conservative lawyer and long-time activist Cleta Mitchell told The Daily Caller that, “This whole scheme is a direct violation of federal law requiring Congress to utilize only appropriated funds for its operations. There are so many legal issues with this setup: violations of federal law, violations of House rules, and complete disregard of the rule of law.”
The Daily Caller also reported that Mitchell said:
“…the CPCC providing staff for the caucus violates both federal law and House ethics rules on “unofficial office accounts.” The rule, which was codified into federal law in 1991, prohibits the use of private donations to support the activities of a congressional office, which, according to Pocan, the CPCC is doing for his caucus.
“There are strict rules regarding what funds are allowed to supplement the allocation of tax dollars to member offices and official duties,” Mitchell told TheDCNF.
But will anything come of this obvious and flagrant violation of the law?
Experts believe Omar and her comrades will get off scot-free.
That’s because as long as the House of Representatives is run by Nancy Pelosi, she will turn a blind eye to alleged lawbreaking so long as the violators are Democrats.
“Article 1, section 5, clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution says that, ‘Each House may … punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member,’” Acton Institute editor Joe Carter told The Daily Caller.
“Based on previous history, the most severe punishment would likely be censure or reprimand of the leaders of the progressive caucus.”
Elected officials ignoring the rule of law to let their pals skate by while throwing the book at ordinary Americans is why the public distrusts politicians.
This obvious double-standard and status quo of “politics as usual” was one of the main reasons the American people looked to an outsider like Donald Trump to drain the swamp.
Meanwhile, Pelosi is doubling down on the corruption that led millions of Americans to scream “enough” and elect Trump.
Instead of holding Omar and the rest of the Progressive Caucus accountable for obvious violations of federal law, Nancy Pelosi will pretend it never happened while yelling about Donald Trump’s supposed ethical failings.
