There’s a damning piece of information that’s bad for the intelligence community.
They had no reason at all to start investigating Trump.
A declassified document has James Comey terrified that he’ll be thrown in jail.
Many Americans still believe that Donald Trump colluded with the Russians.
The narrative that the mainstream media pushes is that there were good reasons to start the investigation and Trump managed to pull off a successful cover up by misusing his power.
There are several big holes in this explanation.
The first is that the Obama administration was spying on the Trump campaign during the election. How was Trump supposed to cover up his actions?
Another problem is that while Democrats keep claiming that there was reason to start the investigation against Trump the evidence shows otherwise.
The FiSA applications used the debunked Steele Dossier as the foundation to get the warrants to wiretap a member of the Trump campaign.
The FBI, which was under James Comey at that time, made it look like there were multiple sources of information on Russian collusion when in fact it was just the Steele Dossier.
And the intelligence community has known for a while that the information in the Steele Dossier wasn’t trustworthy a recently declassified document showed.
A 2017 intelligence community assessment on Russian election interference said the Steele Dossier showed that the American government only had “limited corroboration” of the British ex-spy’s allegations.
“The two-page annex, appended to the January 2017 conclusion by the FBI, CIA, and National Security Agency that the Kremlin interfered in the 2016 election to help then-candidate Donald Trump and hurt Hillary Clinton, was declassified by Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe and obtained by the Washington Examiner. Both fired FBI Director James Comey and fired Deputy Director Andrew McCabe had unsuccessfully pushed to include Steele’s unverified research in the official public assessment, according to a Justice Department watchdog report.” The Washington Examiner reported.
The fact that Comey allegedly wanted to publish unverified information as part of the official response shows the lengths that the FBI was willing to go to hurt Trump.
If Trump had been colluding with the Russians it wouldn’t have been hard to find the evidence to prove it.
Look what happened with Watergate, Nixon’s crime unraveled under investigation, but all the investigations have only proved Trump’s innocence.
That’s because there never was any evidence that any of the information in the Steele Dossier was trustworthy as the annex states plainly.
“An FBI source using both identified and unidentified sub sources volunteered highly politically sensitive information from the summer to the full of 2016 on Russian influence efforts aimed at the U.S. presidential election,” the annex said. “We have only limited corroboration of the source’s reporting in this case and did not use it to reach the analytic conclusions of the CIA/FBI/NSA assessment.”
If the FBI had been doing their job in the proper manner they would have made sure Steele’s claims were true before wiretapping members of the Trump campaign.
It looks as if the FBI was looking for the chance to attack Trump rather than find out the truth.
