There is a clear winner in Donald Trump’s feud with CNN.
It wasn’t who anyone was expecting.
And this huge sex scandal forced one change at CNN that will leave Donald Trump smiling.
Discovery Media CEO David Zaslav forced out CNN President Jeff Zucker after Zucker failed to disclose a year’s long affair with CNN marketing executive Allison Gollust.
The immediate result was that Zaslav is set to name CBS The Late Show with Stephen Colbert executive producer Chris Licht as the new network president.
“Last night, I reported that Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav had zeroed in on his choice for the next President of CNN. I also reported that star executive producer Chris Licht, formerly of Morning Joe and CBS This Morning, and now the person in charge of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, had emerged as a top contender for the position formerly occupied by Jeff Zucker. I can now report, based on conversations with sources who have spoken directly with Zaslav, that Licht is indeed the person who Zaslav has selected to run CNN,” Puck News’s Dylan Beyers exclusively reported.
While Licht’s resume – he also produced MSNBC’s Morning Joe – features standard liberal media credentials, Licht is set to reign in the leftwing editorializing on CNN’s programming and try steer CNN back to down the middle journalism.

…Between the lines: Axios is told that Licht and Zaslav share a view that CNN was chasing prime-time ratings at the expense of the brand.
Zaslav wants to move CNN back to the middle.
John Malone, largest shareholder in Discovery Media – which is set to merge with Warner Media and become CNN’s parent company – foreshadowed CNN turning away from leftwing propaganda and entertainment programming in an interview with CNBC where Malone said he would like to see CNN return to real journalism.
“I would like to see CNN evolve back to the kind of journalism that it started with, and actually have journalists, which would be unique and refreshing,” Malone stated.
Ever since Donald Trump won the 2016 election Jeff Zucker turned CNN into what amounted to a pro-Democrat Party Super PAC.
Performance artists like Don Lemon, Anderson Cooper, Brian Stelter, Jake Tapper and Brianna Keilar filled CNN’s programming with over-the-top leftwing histrionics designed to attract a liberal TV audience and to help drive Trump from office.
But CNN is under new management.
And the days of CNN serving as the mouthpiece for the “resistance” appears over.
