Democrats often try to fend off attacks that they are not very patriotic.
That task juts became more difficult.
A rising star Democrat attacked America on July 4. This is how Ted Cruz destroyed her.
Democrats like to pretend America is not just a country with defined borders and geography.
Instead, they talk about America as an “idea.”
Ideas are ideal for a reason and they are nearly impossible to live up to which allows some on the left to run down America for not achieving perfection.
Freshman Democrat Congresswoman Cori Bush of Missouri took that to the extreme.
Bush – who helped lead Black Lives Matter protests last year and is a sitting member of Congress – attacked America on Independence Day claiming black Americans are not free and that America is a racist nation.
“When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for white people. This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free.” Bush wrote on social media.
Bush later doubled down falsely claiming slavery still existed in America, demanding government run health care, legalizing drugs, and attacking the police.
“We know what our own freedom looks like. End the slavery permitted under the 13th amendment. End the War on Drugs. End police violence. End health care, housing, and education apartheid. WE are the experts on our own liberation. And we won’t stop until it’s won.” Bush added.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz responded to Bush by writing that when the left tells you they hate America to believe them.
“Hateful, divisive lies. The Left hates America. Believe them when they tell you this.” Cruz wrote in response to Bush.
Cruz also referenced a history lesson he gave Colin Kaepernick who also used July 4 to attack America by quoting a speech abolitionist Frederick Douglas gave in 1852 where Douglas decried the state of affairs for black Americans living under the great evil of slavery.
“Two years ago, Colin Kaepernick tried to spread the same lies on July 4. I responded with the wisdom of the great abolitionist Frederick Douglass.” Cruz added.
In that speech Douglas stated “What have I, or those I represent, to do with your national independence? This Fourth of July is yours, not mine…There is not a nation on the earth guilty of practices more shocking and bloody than are the people of these United States at this very hour.”
But Cruz noted that Kaepernick left off the conclusion of Douglas’ remarks where Douglas praised the promise of America.
“Allow me to say, in conclusion, notwithstanding the dark picture I have this day presented, of the state of the nation, I do not despair of this country.” Douglas concluded.
Bush won her election in 2020 and quickly became the latest member of the controversial “Squad.”
But even Bush could not take a holiday from falsely attacking America as a racist, sexist, force for oppression.
