Donald Trump may be faced with his biggest decision yet as a President.
And it could change American politics forever.
That’s because one Supreme Court Justice may retire after this massive health scare.
86-year-old Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is the leader of the court’s four-member liberal bloc.
Ginsburg and her devotees on the left plan on her staying on the court through Donald Trump’s Presidency to make sure a Democrat President appoints her successor.
But that decision may be out of Ginsburg’s hands.
Over the last several years Ginsburg suffered numerous health scares.
Last fall she had surgery to remove cancerous tumors from her lungs.
And just recently Ginsburg shocked Americans by revealing that she completed three weeks of radiation therapy to treat a tumor on her pancreas.
“Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg today completed a three-week course of stereotactic ablative radiation therapy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City,” a statement read. “The focused radiation treatment began on August 5 and was administered on an outpatient basis to treat a tumor on her pancreas. The abnormality was first detected after a routine blood test in early July, and a biopsy performed on July 31 at Sloan Kettering confirmed a localized malignant tumor.
“As part of her treatment, a bile duct stent was placed. The Justice tolerated treatment well. She cancelled her annual summer visit to Santa Fe, but has otherwise maintained an active schedule. The tumor was treated definitively and there is no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body. Justice Ginsburg will continue to have periodic blood tests and scans. No further treatment is needed at this time,” the statement concluded.
Ginsburg survived a bout with pancreatic cancer 10 years ago, but this statement does not make it clear if this tumor is related to that or is something else entirely.
And it is unclear how this will affect Ginsburg’s status on the court going forward.
Will health concerns force Ginsburg to retire?
If that happened, Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace told viewers that could result in the political brawl to end all political brawls.
“[W]e all wish her a long, happy, healthy life. I will say this though, and again, there’s no reason not to think that she won’t be on the court the first Monday in October, but if she were forced to step down, this would make the Kavanaugh hearing, the Gorsuch hearing, Clarence Thomas, it would make it look like a tea party,” Wallace stated.
If President Trump replaced Ginsburg with a conservative woman – Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals Justice Amy Coney Barrett is the favorite – that would entrench a conservative majority on the bench.
Two conservative justices would have to go rogue to hand liberals a victory.
That means Roe v Wade – the Holy Grail of the left’s legal project – is at risk.
