A RINO Republican is caving in to Democratic pressure at a critical time.
She can have no excuse for her spineless actions.
A top Republican made a shocking betrayal to help Biden win a key victory.
Republican Maine Sen. Susan Collins opposed the confirmation of Justice Amy Coney Barrett in the fall of 2020, claiming that it was too close to the election.
“Because this vote is occurring prior to the election, I will vote against the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett,” she said in a statement. “To be clear, my vote does not reflect any conclusion that I have reached about Judge Barrett’s qualifications to serve on the Supreme Court.”
But Collins is willing to vote to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. She told The York Times in an interview that Jackson had managed to reduce her concerns over the course of a meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
“I have decided to support the confirmation of Judge Jackson to be a member of the Supreme Court,” Collins said, adding that Jackson had promised her that she would not bend “the law to meet a personal preference.”
Collins revealed that Jackson fit her inclinations of what a Supreme Court justice should look like.
“In recent years, senators on both sides of the aisle have gotten away from what I perceive to be the appropriate process for evaluating judicial nominees,” Collins said. “In my view, the role under the Constitution assigned to the Senate is to look at the credentials, experience and qualifications of the nominee. It is not to assess whether a nominee reflects the individual ideology of a senator or would vote exactly as an individual senator would want.”
Collins’ vote for Jackson could save Vice President Kamala Harris from having to cast the tie-breaking vote.
Ketanji Brown Jackson said when appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee that she could not provide a definition for the word “woman.”
She is a complete radical who denies reality in order to hold to the latest moral fashion.
A person who isn’t willing to uphold basic truth can’t be trusted to uphold the Constitution.
Twenty years ago the Senate never would have voted to confirm a Supreme Court nominee who couldn’t define what a woman was.
But the culture has shifted, in part because of Republicans who were spineless cowards and were willing to give in on the important fights.
There is no way to find a middle ground with current Democrats because their worldview is incompatible with American ideals and there should be no room in the Republican Party for politicians who are willing to allow Democrats to reshape reality.
