House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff and the fake news media are in deep trouble.
A top Trump ally is fighting back against the lies and misinformation that form the foundation for the Democrats’ impeachment hoax.
And Adam Schiff got smacked with this lawsuit that exposed his worst crime.
POLITICO reporter Natasha Bertrand is one of the most controversial members of the fake news media.
During the Russian collusion hoax, critics accused Bertrand of acting like a stenographer for Adam Schiff and Fusion GPS and publishing whatever fairy tales and conspiracy theories they allegedly spoon-fed her.
Now that Schiff moved on from Russian collusion to a Ukrainian quid pro quo, Bertrand is back up to her own tricks.
On October 23, 2019, Bertrand published a story on POLITICO with the headline “Nunes protégé fed info to Trump on Ukraine.”
In the piece Bertrand claimed Kash Patel fed President Trump documents and information on Ukraine to further the President’s negative view on Ukraine as a corrupt country out to get him.
“A protégé of Republican Rep. Devin Nunes was among those passing negative information about Ukraine to President Donald Trump earlier this year, fueling the president’s belief that Ukraine was brimming with corruption and interfered in the 2016 election on behalf of Democrats,” Bertrand claimed.
Bertrand reported her understanding of Patel’s involvement in the phony Ukraine scandal came from the closed-door testimony of former National Security Official Fiona Hill that “was described to POLITICO by a person with direct knowledge of her recent deposition, and who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the closed-door hearing. Hill declined to comment.”
Bertrand’s reporting was false.
And Patel slapped Bertrand and POLITICO with a $25 million dollar defamation lawsuit when he claimed Bertrand and POLITICO colluded with Adam Schiff to “weaponize the media” to advance Schiff’s impeachment agenda.
“The joint collaborative purpose of the leaks was to publish Hill and Vindman’s false and defamatory statements, including Hill and Vindman’s egregious personal attacks on Kash, so as to further Schiff and Politico’s interests in harming the President and advancing the impeachment inquisition. In furtherance of the conspiracy, Bertrand secretly communicated with Schiff or his staff via encrypted email, including proton-mail, and messaging services, such as Signal,” the lawsuit read.
Once Hill’s deposition was made public it was clear where Schiff allegedly misled Bertrand.
Hill stated it was her opinion that Patel was passing documents containing negative information about Ukraine to the President.
This is not the first time Adam Schiff stands accused of purposefully leaking fake news.
During the Russian collusion witch hunt, someone leaked to CNN that Donald Trump received a Twitter direct message on September 4, 2016 alerting him to the fact that WikiLeaks was about to dump hacked emails obtained from Democrats.
The fake news trumpeted this as confirmation the Trump campaign had advanced knowledge of the WikiLeaks hacks and thus colluded with Russian intelligence.
That story was a lie.
Trump, Jr. received the direct message on September 14, 2016 after the WikiLeaks disclosures were already public and the message was from a random American Twitter user that wanted to alert Trump, Jr. of this fact.
Someone on Schiff’s staff – critics allege it was Schiff himself – leaked knowingly false information to the fake news in order to drive a narrative and create cable news headlines that there was supposedly evidence of collusion.
Trump supporters allege Schiff called this play again with Hill’s testimony to plant an obviously false story with a friendly reporter to generate momentum behind the impeachment push.
And Bertrand was a prime target for a leak like this.
Critics accuse Bertrand of being a stenographer for Adam Schiff and Fusion GPS during the Russian collusion hoax.
But in the story Bertrand misrepresented that as Hill making a factual declaration.
