Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the latest phenomenon to hit the Democratic Party.
And she’s being hailed as the new face of the far-left.
But Ocasio-Cortez is now being attacked by the last person anyone would expect.
New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is perhaps the most famous Democrat currently in office.
The New York socialist has been hailed by far-left outlets as the new face of the Democratic Party and the spokesperson of the future.
And as Ocasio-Cortez pushes her radical Green New Deal, Democrats are lining up to jump onboard with the proposal, even as it threatens to cost tens of trillions of dollars and destroy the American economy.
But while Ocasio-Cortez has many supporters within the Democratic Party, not everyone has come onboard to support her.
And some of her detractors are among the last people you’d expect.
Breitbart reports that one such critic of Ocasio-Cortez is none other than the co-founder of Greenpeace.
“Patrick Moore, the co-founder of Greenpeace who left the organization he said has been ‘hijacked by eco-fascists,’ weighed in on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal resolution calling her a ‘pompous little twit’ on social media,” says Breitbart.
Moore helped to found Green Peace, only to later leave the organization in 1986 in order to pursue “sensible environmentalism”.
Yet his presence as a founding member of Green Peace would seem to put him at odds with Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal, which the New York socialist claims will help to save the planet.
Only, Moore isn’t so convinced that is the case.
“Pompous little twit. You don’t have a plan to grow food for 8 billion people without fossil fuels, or get food into the cities. Horses? If fossil fuels were banned every tree in the world would be cut down for fuel for cooking and heating. You would bring about mass death,” wrote Moore on his Twitter account.
Moore’s attack on Ocasio-Cortez turned heads.
As a founding member of Green Peace, his views on the environment aren’t exactly conservative in nature, even if he left the organization later on.
Moore’s arguments serve as a warning to Ocasio-Cortez and her band of followers, that the policies they are pushing are so extraordinarily out of line with the views of the average American that even those who would be supportive of their plans are now turning against them.
Make no mistake, Patrick Moore is the sort of person that Ocasio-Cortez should have in her corner arguing for her radical remaking of American society.
And instead, she has to deal with him labeling her plans as a proposal for “mass death”.
It doesn’t get much worse than that.
Ocasio-Cortez’s proposal is pretty much dead on arrival when the U.S. Senate will take it up for a vote.
But only time will tell whether or not she takes that as a sign that the American public isn’t interested in her radical brand of socialist politics.
Do you think Ocasio-Cortez should be worried about the people opposing her Green New Deal?
