Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says that she wants the violence to stop.
But immediately she went back on her word.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made a huge threat that could keep the violence going.
There should be justice for the death of George Floyd. While Mr.Floyd was in custody police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for nine minutes.
Peaceful protests are a constitutional right and blacks have the right to see that the legal system works in a fair way.
However, random acts of violence don’t bring justice to anyone.
They just mean another black man won’t go home to his family because he was shot for doing his job.
Other police officers have been run over, shot at and bricks thrown at them.
Many small businesses that were struggling because of coronavirus have been forced over the edge with the looting and vandalism and will shut their doors for good.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claims that the violent oppressive economy are responsible for the riots.
There is some truth that economics are at play here. The coronavirus shutdown that left 40 million people out of work and cut people from their communities, schools and churches is the catalyst for these outbreaks of violence.
However, Ocasio-Cortez has it all wrong and thinks that socialism is the way to ease racial tensions.
“If you’re calling for the end of unrest but you don’t believe healthcare is a human right, if you’re afraid to say black lives matter, if you don’t- If you’re too scared to call out police brutality then you aren’t asking for the end of unrest.” Ocasio-Cortez said in a video posted to Twitter.
“You are asking for injustice to continue and for your people to endure the violence of poverty, the violence of lack of housing access, the violence of police brutality and not say a damn thing. That’s what you’re asking for.” she continued.
“So if you’re out here calling for the end of unrest you’d better be calling for healthcare as a human right, you’d better be calling for accountability in our policing, you’d better be community review boards, you’d better be supporting the end of housing discrimination, you’d better be standing up for profit real estate developers that are intimidating people and trying to evict them from their homes.” Ocasio-Cortez added.
“That’s what you’d better be calling for. Because if you don’t call for those things and you’re asking for the end of unrest all you’re asking for is the continuation of quiet oppression” She finished by saying.
Actually rioting is a form of oppression that will hurt the communities that the violence happens in.
The riots are going to deepen the economic impact of shutdowns and make it a longer recovery.
There are no winners out of riots.
Ocasio-Cortez’s may feel her communist vision will bring forward a better country but that’s not what happens.
People die for no good reason, businesses are destroyed and communities take years to recover.
