It hasn’t been an easy past few weeks for AOC.
Not long ago there was a lawsuit involving a comic book featuring her.
And just a few days ago Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was embarrassed publicly by this big time liberal.
This embarrassment happens to be a big deal as the guy who dished up a healthy serving of fact-checking for her happens to be an expert in something AOC likes to talk about all the time.
Here’s what happened.
Ever since AOC got herself elected to the House of Representatives, she’s talked nonstop about the evils of capitalism. In her mind, the great successes America enjoys are not the result of our free market economy. Instead, she believes the reason the economy is booming and people live incredible lives is that evil men and women have gamed the system and tipped the scales in their favor.
And while the rich pay outrageous sums in taxes, all of which go to fund a myriad of social programs the poor benefit from, according to AOC capitalism is still evil.
Which is something billionaire Mark Cuban didn’t enjoy hearing.
Cuban is one of the most successful businessmen of the modern era. He’s built several companies from the ground up and has amassed a fortune most people could only dream of.
What’s surprising about Cuban is that he’s quite liberal. In fact, he’s a big enough liberal that he says he likes AOC. But just because he likes her doesn’t mean he’s going to let her talk trash about the system that has benefitted him and his companies.
Which is why in an interview he called her out and told the world that though AOC might be a media darling, her opinions on capitalism are trash.
Yahoo Finance published an excerpt of the interview where he castigated the Freshman Congresswoman.
“‘I love AOC, she’s learned the lesson of social media where you get long and you get loud and you get people’s attention, and then you deal with substance after that…
‘I don’t always agree with her,’ he adds, dismissing as ‘headline porn’ a statement made by Ocasio-Cortez in January after she affirmatively responded to the comment that a system that allows billionaires to exist is immoral.”
He also went on to reject her plans to increase taxes on the ultra-rich in an effort to help support broad-reaching social programs.
As he stated bluntly, taxing people like that doesn’t work.
Cuban admitted he was not a proponent of trickle-down taxation.
“The concept that just tax those who have a whole lot more, then all of a sudden, it’ll find its way to those who need it,” he adds. “Doesn’t work, hasn’t worked, won’t work.”
Hopefully, the embarrassment of seeing one of the nation’s top producers take a swipe at her policies will send AOC back to the drawing board on taxes.
If it doesn’t and she continues to gain steam it could spell disaster for the US economy.
