All the pundits and so-called “experts” thought they had the 2020 election figured out.
But just like in 2016 they were all wrong.
And all hell broke loose when this brand new poll of one key state changed Donald Trump’s fortune for good.
For months, former Vice President Joe Biden clung to his status as the frontrunner.
The fake news media handed Biden this distinction based on his lead in national polls.
But Presidential nominations are not won with national polls.
Candidates clinch the nod by accumulating delegates in state by state contests.
And the early states of Iowa and New Hampshire both winnow the field and provide the rocket fuel that propels the winners to the nomination.
To this point there had been very few early state polls of Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina – the key first four states that hold nominating contests.
The sparse early state polling showed a much more muddled picture with Biden narrowly leading or tied in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada.
Some political observers believe the lack of early state polling was deliberate in order to paint Biden as a stronger favorite than he really was since the fake news media and Democrat establishment all considered Biden the best candidate to take on President Trump.
That myth shattered when the Des Moines Register published their latest Iowa poll showing Elizabeth Warren surging seven points to cling to a two point lead over Biden who declined three points since the Des Moines Register’s last poll.
The Des Moines Register poll gained currency in the fake news media when in 2008 pollster Ann Seltzer’s final caucus poll showed Barack Obama winning.
Warren rocketing to the lead in Iowa cemented the fate that she was a co-frontrunner with Biden.
And if Warren beats Biden in Iowa then Biden’s candidacy faces mortal danger.
The contest after Iowa is New Hampshire.
And New Hampshire already has a reputation for being a state where home field advantage matters as evidenced by neighboring state Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders’ landslide win over Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Warren – who hails from Massachusetts – also boasts a close proximity to New Hampshire and that familiarity combined with a win in Iowa would almost certainly mean Warren would best Biden in New Hampshire.
Only Bill Clinton in 1992 won the nomination after losing Iowa and New Hampshire.
Few experts believe Biden could repeat that trick.
This is not the only crisis Biden is facing.
Voters are alarmed at Biden’s inability to remember names, dates, key facts or even where he is.
His mental decline is leading many Americans to wonder if he is suffering from an affliction more serious than simply old age taking its toll.
The former Vice President is also under fire for his son Hunter’s shady business dealings in Ukraine and China.
Falling poll numbers in key early states could complete the trifecta of political wounds that ends Biden’s Presidential campaign.
