Democrats want to make the 2020 election a referendum on the response to the coronavirus outbreak.
But there is a secret everyone on the left wants to hide from the American people.
Andrew Cuomo covered up one scandal that could take down Democrats in 2020
The Democrats are adamant that the stay at home orders are a useful tactic to keep people safe from the coronavirus.
However, there is no clear data that suggests that this is the best course.
Sweden has decided not to close down their country and instead try and focus their efforts on protecting vulnerable communities instead of blanket lockdown orders.
There is crystal clear evidence that the elderly with pre-existing conditions should be protected.
This means that nursing homes should be particularly careful since they hold the most vulnerable people in the population in close quarters and the staff can easily be asymptomatic carriers.
Andrew Cuomo said that it was mandatory for nursing homes to take in still contagious coronavirus patients.
There were empty field hospitals that were dismantled after never having been used.
Sending recovering patients to them would have made far more sense than sending them to nursing homes that were not set up to contain a highly infectious illness.
5300 people have died in nursing homes from the coronavirus in New York.
Cuomo blamed the nursing homes for following his regulations.
“If you can’t provide adequate care, you can’t have the patient in your facility and that’s your basic fiduciary obligation — I would say, ethical obligation — and it’s also your legal obligation,” Cuomo said. “Now, when a person gets transferred, they lose a patient, they lose that revenue, I understand, but the relationship is, the contract is, ‘You have this resident, you get paid, you must provide adequate care.’”
Cuomo is speaking as if the nursing homes had the choice to refuse to take in the coronavirus patients when according to his mandate they didn’t.
Cuomo has blood on his hands. He really does. “There’s no way to sugarcoat this,” a nursing home executive said to the New York Post. “Why in the world would you be sending coronavirus patients to a nursing home, where the most vulnerable population to this disease resides?”
Instead of looking for justice Andrew Cuomo is looking to escape the monetary consequences for his actions.
He’s so desperate for cash that he’s taxing Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian charity, for setting up a field hospital for free.
He’s also taxing the income of the medical workers who uprooted their lives to come and take care of his people.
However when it comes to the nursing homes Cuomo managed to sneak a provision to help get him off scot-free.
At the end of March he slipped in a provision that makes it almost impossible for nursing homes to be sued.
He’s afraid that the nursing home would turn around and sue him because he forced them to take in the coronavirus patients.
At the end of the day it’s Andrew Cuomo who should be held liable for his mandate that forced nursing homes to care for patients they weren’t equipped to handle.
