Andrew Cuomo has been trying to hide New York’s actual coronavirus numbers.
His failures are even worse than suspected.
Andrew Cuomo has a shocking deadly secret that just went completely public.
Despite Dr. Fauci’s assurance that New York did a phenomenal job responding to the coronavirus pandemic the New York government made some major missteps.
The number one problem New York made is that they forced nursing homes to take patients who were still contagious with the coronavirus.
New York reported over 6,600 nursing home residents and workers died of the coronavirus, which alone is higher than the total number of deaths in 43 out of the 50 states
But New York could always point out that their nursing home deaths, even though the number was high, made up a lower percentage of their deaths than the US average.
But a new report suggests that New York has been significantly undercounting their nursing home deaths.
“New York’s coronavirus death toll in nursing homes, already among the highest in the nation, could actually be a significant undercount,” The Associated Press reported. “Unlike every other state with major outbreaks, New York only counts residents who died on nursing home property and not those who were transported to hospitals and died there.”
Since New York isn’t being transparent with its data it is hard to know precisely how many deaths are linked to their nursing homes.
“State health department surveys show 21,000 nursing home beds are lying empty this year, 13,000 more than expected — an increase of almost double the official state nursing home death tally. While some of that increase can be attributed to fewer new admissions and people pulling their loved ones out, it suggests that many others who aren’t there anymore died,” AP added.
Yet New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said just this Monday that he would not support an independent investigation into nursing home deaths.
A reporter asked Cuomo, “Would you support an independent investigation in order to bridge some of this mutual suspicion about partisanship getting into a better public understanding of what exactly happened in group home facilities and nursing homes?”
“No, I wouldn’t do an investigation whether or not it’s political, everybody can make that decision for themselves,” Cuomo answered. “I think you’d have to be blind to realize it’s not political. Just look at where it comes from and look at the sources and look at their political affiliations and look at who wrote the letter in Congress and look at what publications raise it and what media outward networks raise it. It’s kind of incredible.”
What is actually incredible is that Andrew Cuomo won’t release the actual numbers of nursing home deaths.
It seems clear that the real numbers would cause a scandal.
