Andrew Cuomo should have been looking after the most vulnerable.
But instead, his policies directly led to the death of his people.
You won’t believe Andrew Cuomo’s disgusting coronavirus scandal.
New York City has done a remarkably bad job at stopping the spread of the coronavirus.
It is the most densely populated city in America which is part of the reason that it has been hit so hard, but its leadership is also to blame.
Almost half of the coronavirus deaths in America have happened in New York.
California has twice the population of New York State and has had less than a tenth of the fatalities that New York has suffered.
The first thing to do to stop coronavirus fatalities is to protect the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions.
Andrew Cuomo did the exact opposite of that.
New York’s Health Department issued a mandate, on March 25, that state nursing homes could not refuse COVID-19-positive patients as long as they were “medically stable.”
Cuomo said on the mandate “They don’t have the right to object.”
This had a deadly result at a Queens nursing home where the “medically stable” coronavirus patients were sent to them along with a supply of body bags.
According to the Daily Wire:
An executive at the facility — which was previously free of the deadly disease — said the bags were in the shipment of personal protective equipment received the same day the home was forced to begin treating two people discharged from hospitals with COVID-19.
“My colleague noticed that one of the boxes was extremely heavy. Curious as to what could possibly be making that particular box so much heavier than the rest, he opened it,” the exec told The Post Thursday.
“The first two coronavirus patients were accompanied by five body bags.”
Within days, three of the bags were filled with the first of 30 residents who would die there after Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Health Department handed down its March 25 directive that bars nursing homes from refusing to admit “medically stable” coronavirus patients, the exec said.
Like clockwork, the nursing home has received five body bags a week — every week — from city officials.
“Cuomo has blood on his hands. He really does. There’s no way to sugarcoat this,” the health care executive added.
Nursing homes aren’t set up to be able to keep highly infectious diseases at bay.
Many healthy people are unknowing asymptomatic carriers and could unknowingly spread it among the nursing home.
Nursing homes shouldn’t have been forced to deal with patients that they didn’t feel qualified to handle.
Setting up a center for recovering coronavirus patients would have made far more sense.
Sending them to nursing homes meant that the medical system had more strain on it.
Two recovering patients led to thirty dead under Andrew Cuomo’s mandate.
The man is a fool.
Every other state has better numbers than New York and this may be the reason why.
