Adam Schiff led the Democrats’ impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives.
That role led Schiff to become one of the most polarizing members of Congress.
And now this arrest has Adam Schiff in fear for his life.
Americans have the right to strongly disagree on policy and politics.
But what they do not have the right to do is threaten violence or bodily harm against other Americans or elected officials.
United States Attorney John Durham – who is also heading up the criminal probe into the origins of the Russian collusion hoax – announced federal agents arrested a Connecticut man for threatening the life of Adam Schiff last November during the impeachment inquiry
The New York Times reported, “The man, Robert M. Phelps, 62, of Torrington, Conn., used a meeting request form on Mr. Schiff’s congressional website to send the expletive-laden threats, which were made on Nov. 12, the eve of the first public impeachment hearing, according to a criminal complaint.”
Phelps allegedly used the contact form on Schiff’s website to issue his death threats.
The Times also reported that, “Prosecutors said that Mr. Phelps wrote, “I want to come and see you so I can spit in your face and I want to kill you with my bare hands and smash your sick little round fat lying face in. In the space where people can list their time preferences for a meeting, Mr. Phelps wrote, “Measure your coffin day,” according to the criminal complaint.”
No one wants to see harm come to any elected official.
In the summer of 2017, a deranged Bernie Sanders’ fan attempted to assassinate Congressional Republicans as they practiced for a baseball game.
The left-wing assassin nearly killed then House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.
Conservatives have long demanded that the fake news media and law enforcement take threats and acts of violence against them as seriously as they do against Democrats.
There is 100 percent agreement on the idea that any madman that threatened Adam Schiff deserved to be arrested.
But Republicans face a daily menace of left-wing violence and little is done to protect their health and safety.
Terrorist groups like Antifa regularly threaten Trump supporters.
A group of Antifa foot soldiers even congregated outside Tucker Carlson’s home and threatened his family.
Conservatives receive such little protection in society that Twitter refused to take the simple step of banning the account of the Antifa group that used the platform to organize the mob scene outside Carlson’s home.
Whenever a Trump supporter engages in some unconscionable act the fake news rushes to their soap box to deliver self righteous lectures about how President Trump supposedly feeds the toxic political environment.
Those same voices are often silent when it comes to political violence against Trump supporters.
Political violence in America is an issue.
But it is not the one-sided problem the fake news media makes it out to be.
