Beto O’Rourke just became the latest Democratic candidate to run for president.
And the man best known for losing to Ted Cruz is now considered a top-tier contender for the nomination.
But Beto’s disgusting answer to this one question will leave you feeling sick to your stomach.
Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke recently became the latest Democratic candidate to throw his hat in the run for the party’s nomination for president.
The winner of the Democratic primary contest will face off against President Trump in the November 2020 election.
But while Beto is perhaps best known for being a losing Senatorial candidate against Ted Cruz, he’s quickly catapulted to the top of the Democratic leaderboard.
This has brought about a stronger examination of Beto’s record however, with more questions being asked about his policy positions and views.
Beto however has notoriously been quick to avoid any discussion about policies, and his website even lacks specifics about where he stands on almost any issues.
But Beto just made a terrible mistake by answering this one question at a campaign stop.
The Daily Caller reports, “Former Democratic Texas Rep. and current presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke said that third-trimester abortions should be left up to a woman’s choosing, during a Monday campaign event in Cleveland, Ohio.”
“Are you for third trimester abortions or are you going to protect the lives of third trimester babies? Because, you know, there’s really not a medical necessity for abortion,” an attendee asked at the campaign event.
They proceeded to give Beto an easy way out of answering the question too, adding that “it’s not a medical emergency procedure, because typically third-trimester abortions take up to three days to have. So you would, in that sense, if there was an emergency, the doctors would just do a C-section. You don’t have to kill the baby.”
O’Rourke answered, “So, the question is about abortion and reproductive rights. And my answer is to you is that that should be a decision that the woman makes about her own body. I trust her.”
Beto, in just one sentence, supported the same sort of procedures that caused a firestorm earlier this year when a Virginia lawmaker tried to push a bill that would have legalized abortions up to the point of delivery.
And the notoriously policy-light Beto decided to support that.
Less than 20% of Americans support abortions in the third trimester.
And that’s usually because the baby is completely viable and capable of living outside the womb of the mother.
Third trimester abortions are so universally opposed by the American people that in October 2017, the U.S. House voted 237-189 to pass Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, a measure that effectively banned abortions after 20 weeks.
Beto voted against the bill as a member of Congress.
His position on such a hotly contested issue is so out of the mainstream however that he could have just sunk his campaign with one of the few policy positions he publicly gave.
Do you think Beto has a shot at becoming president?
