Nancy Pelosi has been working overtime to push a host of gun control bills through Congress in the wake of two tragic shootings earlier this month in Ohio and Texas.
But Bill Barr may be about to destroy Pelosi’s gun control dreams.
And that’s because Barr just made one move which could help stop the Democrats right in their tracks.
After two shootings in Ohio and Texas earlier this month, Democrats were quick to jump on the gun control bandwagon, claiming that violating Americans’ Second Amendment rights was the key to stopping any and all mass shootings that could occur.
At the same time, dangerous “Red Flag” laws were proposed by Democrats in Congress, led by Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, that would also strip Americans of their Fourth, Fifth, and Six Amendment rights all in the name of taking away their firearms.
But while Democrats have fixated on taking Americans’ guns away from them, Attorney General William Barr decided to roll out one giant plan that could help bring mass shootings to an end.
And even liberal outlets like CNN are now giving Barr credit for working to address the problem without violating Americans’ constitutional rights.
CNN reports, “Attorney General Bill Barr said the Trump administration will move next month to speed up the use of capital punishment against convicted mass murderers, marking the first policy development in the wake of the two shootings earlier this month that left scores dead in Texas and Ohio.”
This could be a big deal, provided Pelosi and the Democrats don’t work to block the move like they have many other key agenda items of the Trump White House.
Barr knows that the best way to combat crime is to punish the criminal, not law-abiding citizens.
And that’s exactly what he plans to do.
“Legislation that allows for the ‘imposition of any death sentence without undue delay’ in cases of mass murders, as well as slayings of police officers, will be proposed after Labor Day, when lawmakers return from recess, Barr told a national law enforcement gathering in New Orleans,” adds CNN.
Barr himself pointed out the need for this legislation when he announced the move.
“Punishment must be swift and certain,” the Attorney General said.
For Barr, this issue comes at a time when Democrats are eager to attack Trump over anything and everything they can get their hands on.
They know with the upcoming election next year that if they can weaken President Trump in the coming months, they will have a greater shot at defeating him come 2020.
But Barr isn’t going to let that happen without a fight.
And he knows that with Democrats playing politics over horrific shootings in America, now isn’t the time to let them dictate the terms of the debate.
Which is why his proposal is such a game-changing move.
“President Donald Trump had directed the Justice Department last week to propose the legislation, and Barr said Monday that he is also working with the FBI to ‘develop strategies and measures to address’ mass shootings and domestic terror attacks, including tools that assist in ‘detecting potential mass shooters before they strike,’” concludes CNN.
