Bill Clinton knows a thing or two about surviving impeachment.
But Democrats were not prepared for what former President Clinton was about to reveal in public.
And Bill Clinton left Adam Schiff red with rage by telling one impeachment truth.
Bill Clinton seized on a school shooting in California to call into CNN and demand Congress pass legislation creating a national gun registration database and ban so-called “assault weapons.”
Clinton and other gun grabbers ignored the fact that California has these laws on the books and strict gun control failed to prevent this tragedy.
But the interesting part of Clinton’s phone interview with fake news host Jake Tapper was the former President offering Donald Trump advice on how to defeat the Democrats’ impeachment witch hunt.
Clinton told Tapper that if President Trump concentrated on enacting his agenda and letting his lawyers and supporters in Congress fight off the Democrats, the President would emerge unscathed.
“My message would be, look, you got hired to do a job,” Clinton told Tapper. “You don’t get the days back you blow off. Every day is an opportunity to make something good happen.
“And I would say, ‘I’ve got lawyers and staff people handling this impeachment inquiry, and they should just have at it,'” Clinton added. “Meanwhile, I’m going to work for the American people. That’s what I would do.”
The former President tried to throw Democrats a bone by pushing Donald Trump to pounce on the school shooting in California and gut the Second Amendment.
“I mean, I think what happened was — [Trump] did indicate a couple times he might go along with this and then obviously the gun lobby got ahold of him and pulled him back,” Clinton said. “But at some point, you know, denial is no longer an option. And Congress is basically in denial of the consequences of doing nothing. Or at least the people who are opposed to it,” Clinton added.
There is no chance that will happen.
But Nancy Pelosi did offer a path for the President to achieve a legislative victory that would allow him to follow Clinton’s advice of delivering victories for the American people in the face of a partisan coup attempt.
Speaker Pelosi is under pressure from the 31 Democrats representing districts Donald Trump won in 2016 to stage a vote on Donald Trump’s USMCA trade deal.
The President fulfilled his promise to renegotiate NAFTA to benefit the American worker and now he needs Congress to ratify the agreement.
Despite the fact such a move would deliver President Trump a massive election year victory, Nancy Pelosi told reporters that Congressional Democrats and the administration were standing at the goal line in terms of reaching an agreement.
“I do believe that if we can get this to the place it needs to be, which is imminent, that this can be a template for future trade agreements. A good template,” Pelosi said.
POLITICO also exclusively reported that, “Two people familiar with the ongoing negotiations also told POLITICO this week they see Democrats and Lighthizer reaching a handshake agreement within the next two weeks, before lawmakers head home for Thanksgiving.”
