Joe Biden has created a disaster on the southern border.
And now, he just made it significantly worse.
And it’s all because of one stunning stand down order issued to ICE.
After years of pushing for open borders and amnesty, Joe Biden has found a way to turn America’s growing border crisis along the Rio Grande into an even greater catastrophe than before.
And it’s all because of one shocking stand down order that Biden just delivered to America’s border and immigration agencies.
The Washington Times reports, “Some ICE officers have been told to cut down on arrests of even serious criminals to free up detention bed space so the government has somewhere to put illegal immigrants caught at the border. The guidance does not appear to be nationwide but was delivered to agents in at least some field offices of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.”
With Biden demanding that ICE back off from arresting even serious criminal ahead of yet another wave of migrants swamping the border, he is laying the groundwork for yet another stunning turn in what is rapidly becoming one of the clearest examples of his failed leadership.
Before Joe Biden took office, the southern border was secured and illegal border crossings were relatively low.
But over the last two years, Biden has presided over a crisis entirely of his own making, thanks in large part to his staunch support for open borders and even amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants.
With Biden telegraphing to the world that he will do everything in his power to stop border patrol and immigration agencies from doing their jobs, it is little surprise to see millions of people attempt to cross the border illegally in 2022 alone.
And now, some estimates show that as many as 2.6 million illegal immigrants will follow in 2023.
“The guidance does not appear to be nationwide but was delivered to agents in at least some field offices of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. One officer on the East Coast said ICE officers had been told to focus their arrests on class A felons — the worst of the worst. That leaves plenty of other bad actors outside the arrest aperture,” adds the Washington Examiner.
Biden’s move to limit ICE’s ability to arrest criminals marks yet another blow to efforts to secure the southern border, and his directive will end up putting even more communities along the Rio Grande at greater risk, which could accelerate a growing trend among Hispanic communities in South Texas shifting hard towards conservatives over the past two years.
By prioritizing illegal immigrants over American citizens, Biden is slowly but surely pushing away communities that were once loyal supporters of the Democratic Party, with counties all along the Rio Grande shifting heavily towards Donald Trump in 2020. What’s more, Democrats failed to claw back many of their losses in the region in 2022, suggesting that the political shifts could be more permanent than Democrats were expecting.
The reason for this political realignment is because of the type of border policies Biden is imposing on the rest of the country, and with his latest directive for ICE to stand down, it’s clear that the border crisis will get significantly worse before it gets better.
