If you’re the kind of person who supports Brett Kavanaugh, you’re going to love this.
Ginsburg shares very little in common with Kavanaugh.
Is there any way Ruth Bader Ginsburg could have ever expected this to be true of Brett Kavanaugh?
Probably not, because as you’re about to see, the support that Ginsburg has enjoyed for decades is seemingly drying up.
To be completely honest, it’s a surprise Justice Ginsburg is still a colleague of Kavanaugh’s.
Despite the numerous setbacks she’s had health-wise in the past few years, the left-leaning Justice has refused to vacate her seat. Many on the right and the left believe she’s not doing this because she believes she can perform her job to the standard which she is obligated.
Instead, it’s suspected she’s refusing to retire because she doesn’t want to give up her seat and allow Trump to get another nominee in and turn the bench more conservative.
And that belief is probably warranted.
We know that based on an unscientific, yet telling poll that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee conducted last week.
The poll certainly backfired as it showed the majority of people favor justices like Kavanaugh over Ginsburg.
The poll asked Twitter users what kind of Justice they’d rather have on the bench, a liberal one like Ruth Bader Ginsburg or a more conservative Justice like Kavanaugh.
The poll numbers were so skewed, 71% favored a conservative judge like Kavanaugh to 29% in favor of liberal judges like Ginsburg, that the organization eventually took the poll down.
This was no small poll either.
Nor was the poll released in an echo chamber of conservatives only.
More than 46,000 votes were collected to get those numbers and Twitter has many more liberal users than conservative ones.
What does that mean?
One thing is evident, which is Kavanaugh enjoys a wide body of support despite what happened to him last year during his confirmation process. The American public may even feel bad for Kavanaugh as he was raked over the coals for no good reason. People haven’t forgotten that several of the women who accused him of sexual assault eventually retracted their stories and/or admitted they were lying.
It also shows that when it comes to protecting the Constitution of the United States, a large number of people are keen to have a hyper-conservative Justice on the Supreme Court.
Kavanaugh is regarded as one of the most conservative Justices in the judicial system.
There’s also an element of disdain that may be detected in regards to Ginsburg. Disdain not just related to her political beliefs, but her behavior. As mentioned above, Ginsburg is refusing to retire despite her health being a major impediment to doing her job. This kind of political gamesmanship isn’t appreciated and it seems people would like to have a Justice who is fair and honest make rulings.
At the end of the day, Ginsburg is finally getting her comeuppance. The support she enjoyed for years as one of the first Supreme Court Justices is beginning to wane and her rivals now are favored over her.
