A desperate attempt campaign strategy destroyed a vital Democratic impeachment plan.
The Democrats are proving once again that they are their own worst enemy.
A top Democratic candidate killed impeachment with one thoughtless question.
The Democrats knew that they could count on two traitorous Republicans to join them and vote for witnesses.
Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) sent GOP leaders a clear message that she didn’t want to move through the impeachment trial quickly.
And Mitt Romney said to reporters “I’m not going to be voting for witnesses prior to the opening arguments. But I presume I’ll be voting for that after.”
Democrats only needed one more vote to get the additional witnesses they wanted to keep the trial dragging on forever.
Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), who was retiring after the end of the year, was on edge about whether he wanted more witnesses or not. “My view is we should hear the case, ask our questions and then have a vote on whether we need to hear additional witnesses or call for additional documents,” he said.
He could have easily gone either way on witnesses but Elizabeth Warren made sure that he voted against impeachment because of her insanity.
According to The Washington Examiner:
During the trial on Thursday, the Massachusetts Democrat, who is running for president, submitted a question to Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts which questioned his credibility. The question was read aloud by Roberts.
“At a time when large majorities of Americans have lost faith in government, does the fact that the chief justice is presiding over an impeachment trial in which Republican senators have thus far refused to allow witnesses or evidence contribute to the loss of legitimacy of the chief justice, the Supreme Court, and the Constitution?” Warren, 70, asked.
Cruz, 49, said Warren tried to give her presidential campaign a boost ahead of the Iowa caucuses, but it backfired by driving Republicans to vote against calling additional witnesses to testify.
“Elizabeth Warren helped defeat the impeachment of the president of the United States,” the Texas Republican said on his podcast, The Verdict.
“That stunt helped deliver the votes of Lisa and Lamar,” he added, referring to Sen. Lisa Murkowski, an Alaska Republican, and Sen. Lamar Alexander, a Tennessee Republican.
Elizabeth Warren’s attempt to say that the Supreme Court is illegitimate unless it helps the Democrats remove Trump is insane.
The Senate has all the evidence that made the House decide to impeach Trump.
It was a ridiculous question that showed clearly that the Democrats are using impeachment because they’re looking for attention, they aren’t looking for justice.
It made it an easy choice for the Republicans who were on the fence about calling more witnesses.
More information for voters is good, more time for Democrats to have a show trial to make themselves look better for the 2020 election is not useful.
Elizabeth Warren made it clear that the Democrats are only in it for themselves and that is what ended impeachment.
