Democrats want to shut down social events across America regardless of size.
But there’s one kind of event they won’t ban.
Doctor Fauci was backed into a tight corner with a question he couldn’t answer.
If Doctor Fauci was really focused just on stopping the coronavirus he would be calling out the Democrats’ hypocrisy when it comes to the protests.
The Democrats can’t have it both ways. They can’t disapprove of churches and schools gathering together for worship and learning while encouraging the protests to continues.
The coronavirus seems to only be important when stopping activities Republicans consider to be important.
When conservatives were protesting the lockdowns Dr. Fauci was quick to condemn them back in April.
He said that the protests would “backfire” and slow down the recovery from the coronavirus.
Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, questioned Dr. Fauci when he appeared before the House Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis.
Dr. Fauci admitted to Jordan that protests of a large amount of people would be a risk especially if the attendees weren’t wearing masks.
If protests are indeed a health risk, why doesn’t the government step in to stop them like they have other First Amendment protected activities?
This is the hypocrisy Jordan was hinting at with his next question.
“Should we limit the protesting?” Jordan asked Fauci and when Fauci asked for clarification Jordan added “should government limit the protesting?”
Fauci replied “I’m not in a position to determine what the government can do in a forceful way,” before Jordan interrupted, him, commenting “You make all kinds of recommendations, you make comments on dating, on baseball, on everything you can imagine. I’m just asking, you just said, protesting increases the spread. I’m just asking you should we try to limit the protest?”
“I think I would leave that to people who have more of a position to do that,” Fauci responded. “I can tell you that…”
Jordan again interrupted Fauci, saying: “Government’s stopping people from going to church, Dr. Fauci. Last week… five liberals on the Supreme Court said it was OK for Nevada to limit church services… Is there a world where the Constitution says you can favor one First Amendment liberty, protesting, over another, practicing your faith?”
“I’m not favoring anybody over anybody,” Fauci said. “I’m just making a statement that’s a broad statement… avoid crowds of any type no matter where you are, because that leads to the acquisition and transmission. And I don’t judge one crowd versus another crowd. When you’re in a crowd, particularly if you’re not wearing a mask.”
Dr. Fauci has clearly advocated for the government to restrict many kinds of gatherings but he avoids answering when it comes to protests, he’s following what the Democrat leadership want him to say instead of science.
