The Trump administration is escalating its fight against the coronavirus.
But the battle took a turn for the worse.
Donald Trump saw one coronavirus mistake that left him not knowing what hit him.
At a recent coronavirus task force press briefing task force leader Dr. Deborah Birx warned Americans of the rapidly deteriorating situation in New York.
New York is now the epicenter of the outbreak in America as half of all the known cases in the United States were recorded in New York.
To deal with this outbreak and to try and prevent the outbreak from spreading and creating additional hot spots that strain the American health care system Dr. Birx recommended any New Yorker that had left the state should self quarantine for 14 days to make sure they have no symptoms.
But the following day New York Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker rejected Dr. Birx’s recommendation and told New Yorkers to ignore the federal recommendations and do their own thing.
“I would not follow that. I believe you should follow the guidance in general, you should social distance,” Zucker said.
On a daily basis fake news reporters at places like CNN, anchors and commentators routinely savage the President if he utters one syllable different than Dr. Birx and Dr. Fauci the press shouts with one voice that the President is “contradicting” his experts and sending mixed messages that will cost lives.
But in this case, a state health official directly contradicted the top federal expert and offered up advice to residents of his state that could cause chaos, future outbreaks and possible loss of life.
The outbreak in New York is troubling.
New York is still seeing an exponential rate of growth that will see the state swamped with more infected cases than their health care system can handle.
The President, Vice President, and every other official on the coronavirus task force promised to do everything in their power to help New York.
For example, the federal government just shipped 4,000 ventilators to the state. The President and Vice President pledged to do everything in their power to help Governor Andrew Cuomo and his team make sure New York had enough equipment to meet its needs during this pandemic.
But helping New York put a cork in its coronavirus outbreak will do little to help the country if state officials are making reckless remarks encouraging their residents to ignore recommendations about self isolation that could lead to multiple outbreaks popping up across the United States that are equal to the one in New York.
The President and the task force repeatedly emphasized the point that the quickest way for the country to get back to business is for every American to follow the social distancing guidelines for 15 days.
That task became more difficult when New York Health officials encouraged their citizens to freelance and ignore federal recommendations.
