Former Vice President Joe Biden was riding high in the polls.
Many pundits even speculated that Biden possessed the political chops to take on and defeat Donald Trump.
But that all changed when Donald Trump ended Joe Biden’s Presidential campaign with these eight words.
After Biden’s disastrous performance in the first Democrat Presidential debate and uneven showing in the second face off, Democrat voters and many liberal so-called “reporters” began to worry that age caught up with Biden.
Biden’s confused campaign trail appearances where he misstated facts, slurred his words and rambled through his remarks raised questions on the left if Biden’s mental faculties were in serious decline.
That all came to a head when President Trump blasted Biden’s mental state after Biden equated poverty with being black or Hispanic at a campaign stop in Iowa.
“We have this notion that somehow if you’re poor, you cannot do it. Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids,” Biden stated.
When President Trump met with reporters before departing the White House for his New Jersey golf club, the President hammered Biden’s mental fitness to be President.
“Joe is not playing with a full deck,” Trump told reporters. “This is not somebody you can have as your president. Joe Biden can’t answer a simple question. Something’s gone wrong with him.”
Things only accelerated going downhill for Biden from there.
The following day Biden made a series of gaffes where he claimed Americans should demand “facts over truth”, confused outgoing British Prime Minister Theresa May with Margaret Thatcher and claimed the survivors of the Parkland High School shooting visited him when he was Vice President despite the fact the shooting occurred 13 months after Biden left office.
President Trump jabbed at Biden’s declining mental acumen on social media.
The President tweeted that “Joe Biden just said, ‘We believe in facts, not truth.’ Does anybody really believe he is mentally fit to be president? We are ‘playing’ in a very big and complicated world. Joe doesn’t have a clue!”
Unfortunately for Biden it was not just Donald Trump raising questions about the former Vice President’s age and cognitive capabilities.
Washington Post reporter Matt Viser traveled to Iowa and found numerous Democrats openly questioning if old age reduced Biden to a shadow of his former self.
Viser reported on his concerns shared by Madison Country Democrat Party Chairman Alan Feirer:
“But boy, he’s old,” Feirer added. “That shouldn’t be a problem, and you don’t like to say it, but he isn’t as compelling verbally. . . . There is starting to be a real fear that he cannot hold his own in the debate against Donald Trump.”
Grundy County Democrat Chairwoman Tracy Freese also shared similar concerns with Viser:
“I wish he’d get his mojo back. I know he has it; I just haven’t seen it,” Freese said. She longs for the Biden who took on Paul D. Ryan in the 2012 vice presidential debate. “Where did that guy go?” she said. “I’m not seeing him right now.”
In the 2016 election Donald Trump defeated 16 other Republicans and Hillary Clinton in part by highlighting a major personal shortcoming with a clever nickname.
Trump successfully branded his opponents.
Democrats are worried Biden’s diminished mental state will allow Trump to successfully brand Biden as incompetent and unfit for the job of President.
