Ilhan Omar has made a name for herself as one of the most vocal anti-Semites in Congress.
The Minnesota Democrat has received widespread condemnation from both the left and the right for her comments.
And now, President Trump just silenced Omar with one devastating word.
Ilhan Omar has emerged as one of the most vocal members of the new Congress, but for all the wrong reasons.
Her tweets, public statements, and policy platforms combine to form one of the most anti-Semitic members of Congress.
And the crisis just recently reached a breaking point.
After Omar took a shot at the state of Israel, and then all Jewish people, the backlash was swift.
She however doubled-down and then proceeded to attack the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), a non-profit organization that works to strengthen U.S.-Israel relations.
Roll Call reports, “Omar received an avalanche of condemnation from members of Congress Monday for her tweet quoting the P. Diddy lyric, “It’s all about the Benjamins baby,” to ascribe Republicans’ fierce opposition to boycotting Israel.”
The tweet came after Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy condemned Omar’s fellow Democrat, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, for supporting the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement, which seeks to destroy Israel’s economy.
Omar was almost immediately skewered for her remarks.
Even Nancy Pelosi called her tweet “deeply offensive” after multiple Republicans demanded she reprimands her fellow Democrat.
Omar issued a half-hearted apology where she stated she “unequivocally apologized,” but then proceeded to continue to attack AIPAC once again.
That’s when President Trump decided to wade into the mess.
“I think she should either resign from Congress or she should certainly resign from the House Foreign Affairs Committee,” Trump said during a Cabinet meeting. The president also stated that Omar has anti-Israeli views “deep seeded in her heart”.
When asked what he thought about Omar’s apology, Trump destroyed her.
He called it “lame”.
Which is of course exactly what it is, considering that Omar issued a statement to get people off her back, but then at the same time refused to change anything.
Trump slammed her for this, stating that Omar “should be ashamed of herself.”
“I think it was a terrible statement, and I don’t think her apology was adequate,” he said, according to The Hill.
Omar isn’t the only member of Congress with a checkered record of anti-Semitic statements.
Congresswoman Tlaib is also among the most vocal anti-Semitic Democrats who were just elected to office.
After making a name for herself by declaring that she would “impeach the mother*****” on the night of her swearing-in party, Tlaib has since endorsed the BDS movement fully.
Her office map in D.C. even had Israel replaced with the word “Palestine”.
Omar and Tlaib together form two of the most radical new Democrats in the House of Representatives, alongside fellow Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, famous for campaigning for office as an avowed socialist.
When asked by the press this week about Omar’s statements, Ocasio-Cortez defended her.
