The Supreme Court just wrapped up its most recent term.
Democrats left furious.
And Donald Trump was grinning from ear to ear after a bombshell Supreme Court decision.
The Supreme Court put an end to the Democrats’ years long quest to try and use the Mueller probe to bring criminal charges against Donald Trump.
Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee spent two years fighting in court for access to the secret grand jury testimony from the Mueller probe in an effort to prove Donald Trump lied in his written answers to the special counsel’s questions.
The Supreme Court vacated lower court rulings granting Democrats access to grand jury testimony.
House General Counsel Douglas Letter admitted in a court filing that the Trump administration ending damaged the Democrats’ case, but that this matter still presented a live separation of powers issue.
“The Trump Administration succeeded in running out the clock and thereby undermined the ability of the House of Representatives to have access to all of the relevant facts as it considered impeachment,” Letter wrote adding that “the Committee fully trusts that the Justice Department will return to its prior longstanding position and support disclosure at the appropriate time. Any failure to do so would gravely unsettle the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution and undermine the public’s trust in our system of government.”
Donald Trump called the Mueller probe the greatest witch hunt in history.
It began with a baseless allegation cooked up by the Clinton campaign that Donald Trump colluded with the Russians as part of a scheme to rig the 2016 Presidential election.
That soon turned into investigating Trump with the express purpose of trying to manufacture a crime.
The final Hail Mary attempt was Democrats fighting to get their hands on secret grand jury testimony to “prove” Trump lied when he told Mueller’s prosecutors that he did not recall talking to former campaign aide Roger Stone about WikiLeaks obtaining emails hacked from the account of Clinton campaign chairman Jon Podesta.
This is not the only legal matter Democrats came up on the short end of the stick about.
Manhattan’s Democrat District Attorney Cy Vance informed Donald Trump’s legal team that his office would not criminally charge Trump as part of his fishing expedition into Trump’s business and finances.
For years Democrats accused Trump of being a corrupt criminal.
But starting with the Mueller probe the most ruthless legal all stars on the left investigated Donald Trump up and down yet still failed to produce evidence of criminal behavior.
And at least in one case the Supreme Court finally forced the Democrats to move on from their “get Trump” obsession.
