Joe Biden’s political standing grows more precarious by the day.
The left’s nightmare scenario is playing out before their very eyes.
And Donald Trump wrote this letter that turned Joe Biden’s life upside down.
Nancy Pelosi created the January 6 Committee in the hopes of destroying any chance Donald Trump would run for re-election.
With Joe Biden’s approval rating plunging to an anemic 33 percent in a New York Times/Siena poll Biden and the Democrats need all the help they can get to block a Trump restoration.
But despite Soviet-state media style propaganda coverage in the corporate press and a biased committee running a one-sided show, the committee’s kangaroo court does not appear to have dented Trump’s standing with the public or GOP base.
Now Donald Trump got one over on the committee.
Trump wrote a letter to former chief strategist Steve Bannon’s attorney Robert Costello lifting his claim of executive privilege.
Bannon refused to testify before the January 6 Committee on the grounds that Trump asserted executive privilege.
“If you reach an agreement on a time and place for your testimony, I will waive executive privilege for you, which will allow for you to in and testify truthfully and fairly as per the request of the Unselect Committee of political Thugs and Hacks,” Trump wrote to Costello.
Costello then wrote a letter to the committee informing members that Bannon was now willing to testify in public before the committee.
“Mr. Bannon was obligated to honor the President’s invocation (of executive privilege), unless and until, either your Committee reached a constitutionally required accommodation with President Trump as to the invocation of executive privilege or your Committee obtained a ruling from the Federal District Court that the invocation of executive privilege was improper or did not apply to the particular question or document sought,” Costello wrote to the committee. “While Mr. Bannon has been steadfast in his convictions, circumstances have now changed.”
“President Trump has decided that it would be in the best interests of the American people to waive executive privilege for Stephen K. Bannon, to allow Mr. Bannon to comply with the subpoena issued by your Committee. Mr. Bannon is willing to, and indeed prefers, to testify at your public hearing.” Costello’s letter continued.
Steve Bannon testifying in public before the committee would upend the dynamic of the hearings that members worked so painstakingly to create.
Bannon is an unabashed Trump supporter who refuses to buy into the media and Democrat Party version of January 6.
If Bannon testified in public it would be the first time the American people would see an adversarial witness present testimony that contradicted and undercut the biased and overhyped anti-Trump narrative about January 6 that Democrats hope will bail out Joe Biden or whoever the Democrats run in 2024.
