Americans are counting on Dr. Anthony Fauci to explain the status of the nation’s battle to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
But they could not believe what they heard.
And that’s because Dr. Fauci told one truth to CNN that left Americans stunned into silence.
During a recent coronavirus task force briefing, fake news CNN’s anti-Trump activist Jim Acosta attempted to catch the administration with a “gotcha” question intended to embarrass President Trump.
The task force unveiled projections that up to 240,000 Americans could succumb to the coronavirus and Acosta wanted to trip up the task force into admitting that Donald Trump bore personal responsibility for what could possibly amount to hundreds of thousands of American deaths because Acosta believes President Trump dropped the ball on preparing for the outbreak.
Dr. Deborah Birx responded that they could not have put in place social distancing measures earlier because the virus was not detected in America after it began spreading in China and other Asian countries.
But then Dr. Fauci stepped up and shot down Acosta and fake news CNN with a rebuke of the idea that the administration could have acted earlier.
“Just to underscore what Dr. Birx was saying, if there was no virus in the background, there was nothing to mitigate,” Fauci fired back at Acosta “If there was virus there that we didn’t know about, then the answer to your question is probably yes. Now the only trouble with that is that whenever you come out and say something like that, it always becomes almost a sound bite that gets taken out of context, but I think that’s very important, what Dr. Birx has said, is that if there was covert infections here that we didn’t know about, and we didn’t mitigate them, that they would’ve made a difference. If there was virtually nothing there, then there’s nothing to mitigate. And I don’t know the answer to your question.”
Acosta tried again and pressed Fauci on why the Trump administration did see what was going on in Italy and South Korea and take drastic action sooner.
“But we were watching South Korea, excuse me, and China and Italy, and we weren’t taking action when those countries were spiking.”
Dr. Fauci demolished the premise of Acosta’s gotcha question by noting that the administration – contrary to the fake news media narrative – acted early to take steps to contain the spread of the virus.
“In a perfect world, it would have been nice to know what was going on [in China],” Dr. Fauci answered. “We didn’t, but I believe Jim, that we, we acted very, very early in that.”
Fake news CNN and the rest of the left-wing media was not looking for that answer.
The fake news invested itself completely in the myth that the Trump administration fell asleep on the job as the coronavirus silently spread across the country.
But as Dr. Fauci pointed out, that just isn’t true.
