Elizabeth Warren’s campaign is in serious trouble.
The Massachusetts Senator could be just months away from watching her White House dreams fall apart.
And now, Warren just got smacked with news that could mark the beginning of the end.
Massachusetts Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren made headlines across the country for trying to argue that she was a Native American earlier this year.
The move ended up making Warren a laughing stock across the country.
But her problems aren’t over just yet.
Even with Warren’s recent growth in the Democratic presidential primary race, she still has a long way to go before she can claim the nomination, and an even longer way to go before she can get a chance to take on President Donald Trump in the general election.
For Warren however, there’s a very good chance that she will never even get that far.
And while her campaign likes to claim that it has now climbed to be the primary anti-Joe Biden candidate in the field, she just got smacked with some awful news that could cost her everything.
Morning Consult reports, “Warren and Harris are slightly underperforming in early primary states: Both senators have three points less in vote share compared to nationally.”
This is horrible news for Warren.
And it could spell the end of her campaign.
That’s because Warren is staking her entire campaign on a strong showing in the early primary states to show that she is the best alternative to Joe Biden.
And if she cannot pull that off, there’s no reason to think that her campaign can last until Nevada or any other later states in the primary cycle before running out of steam.
For Warren, she has to either win, or at least come in second, in Iowa and New Hampshire if she hopes to knock off Joe Biden at the head of the Democratic primary field.
Worse yet, Warren knows that Biden stands to gain the most from the other avowed socialist in the field, Bernie Sanders.
Morning Consult also reports that 30% of Bernie Sanders’s supporters choose Joe Biden as their second choice, while 27% choose Warren.
This means that if Sanders drops out of the race, Joe Biden stands to gain as much support from the fact as Warren herself does.
This is stunning news for the Warren campaign, as many on her team have been hoping that Sanders will drop out and his supporters will move to support her against Biden.
They never imagined that a significant chunk, let alone a plurality, of Sanders supporters would actually back Biden over her.
This, combined with her lackluster standing in the polls in the early primary states are just some of the early warning signs for team Warren that the Massachusetts Senator cannot afford to ignore.
Unless she can right the ship in the coming months, she risks handing the entire race over to Biden, and the nomination with it.
We will keep you up to date with any new developments in this ongoing story.
