Like most cable news networks, FOX News relies heavily on the support of advertisers to make money and continue producing programming for the viewing public to enjoy.
The lion’s share of the ads FOX News runs are pretty tame, at least by most standards.
However, FOX News could get sued into oblivion if they keep running this controversial ad.
If you’ve watched the news lately, any news, not just FOX, you’ve noticed that the ads you see on TV are becoming more and more political.
‘Tis the season for political ads. As the November 2020 elections quickly approach, you’re going to see even more of them.
That being true, there’s one ad that FOX News is running heavily right now that may be taken off the air soon.
It’s an ad the Trump campaign is running that portrays Joe Biden in a negative light.
Well, it’s an ad that tells the truth about Biden, but he doesn’t like what it says about him, and he’s trying to get FOX to remove it.
That’s just like a Democrat, get caught with your hand in the cookie jar and act like you just slipped and fell into it, when in reality, you HATE cookies.
Biden’s campaign manager Greg Schultz sent a letter to FOX demanding they take the ad down because it “falsely states” that “Biden offered Ukraine $1 billion to fire the prosecutor investigating a company affiliated with his son.”
According to Schultz, that simply isn’t true.
“Though the Trump campaign is prepared to fabricate outright lies, your station’s airwaves should not be used to disseminate them,” Schultz wrote.
“We are putting you on notice about the absolute falsity of the advertisement’s claims, and we expect that you will reject it. Please consider this letter a standing request that you reject any advertisement containing similar claims, regardless whether the Trump campaign or a third-party group seeks to place it.”
What could happen if FOX News continues to air the aid?
Well, the Biden campaign could sue the network.
Of course, if they did, they’ve got to prove that the ad was libelous in nature.
Schultz claims it is.
“There is no evidence to support the claim that the former vice president intervened in Ukraine to benefit his son, who was on the board of a Ukrainian energy company. The Obama administration — along with Republicans senators, the International Monetary Fund, Western governments and Ukrainian reformers — were concerned at the time that then-prosecutor general Victor Shokin wasn’t aggressively fighting corruption.”
However, the burden of proof is on the Biden campaign to prove there was never a payment made.
And now that the impeachment inquiry about the entire Ukraine fiasco is underway, that may be harder to do, especially as the investigation and inquiry is probably going to bring more skeletons out of the closet and more proof that Biden did in fact threaten to withhold aid.
If Biden’s dirty laundry is aired out during the impeachment inquiry in front of all the world… then not only will FOX News be vindicated and allowed to continue running the ads… you can bet dollars to doughnuts FOX will let Trump run plenty more ads like that.
After all, if the ads are true, Biden doesn’t have a leg to stand on and any future requests to have ads revealing his sins pulled off the air, cannot (and will not) be removed; ever.
