Adam Schiff and the rest of the Democrats were thrown back on their heels.
Their impeachment witch hunt against President Trump was backfiring in spectacular fashion.
But then the Democrats breathed a sigh of relief when a Fox News host handed Adam Schiff this jaw-dropping endorsement.
Adam Schiff and the Democrats scored an unexpected boost when Fox News legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano posted a new episode of his web series “Judge Andrew Napolitano’s Chambers” where Napolitano defended Schiff’s secret impeachment investigation.
“Their arguments are to smear the witnesses being interrogated in secret and to smear the process,” Napolitano claimed.
Napolitano was referring to Republican attacks on Deep State stooges Ambassador Bill Taylor and Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman throwing temper tantrums about Donald Trump disagreeing with the Washington swamp’s failed foreign policy and running to Adam Schiff to claim policy differences over Ukraine amounted to “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
The judge went on to falsely claim that the Democrats’ closed-door kangaroo court was proceeding in accordance with rules the Republican majority passed back in 2015.
“A group of Republicans were unhappy with hearings being held behind closed doors, even though those hearings are perfectly consistent with House rules that were written by Republicans when they controlled the House,” Napolitano continued.
None other than former House Speaker John Boehner confirmed this was not the case.
Boehner speaking out was not an act of partisan hackery.
The former Speaker hates Donald Trump and owes the President no quarter.
Boehner shot down Napolitano’s false claim because the Fox News legal analyst was lying about what Boehner did as Speaker of the House.
Finally, Napolitano lied about President Trump and his staff admitting to a quid pro quo over Ukrainian military aid.
“The proofs have been admitted to by the president,” Napolitano falsely claimed. “He had the phone call with the president of Ukraine, he did hold up nearly $400 million in aid … they desperately need the military equipment the president held up until the Ukrainian president could do a favor for him, and the favor was to investigate an American citizen who happened to be the leading candidate for the Democratic nomination to oppose President Trump’s re-election. None of that is in dispute.”
This was a lie.
But Napolitano’s lies, misinformation and anti-Trump activism served a useful purpose for Schiff and the Democrats.
A recent Suffolk University poll found just nine percent of Fox News viewers believed President Trump’s call with the Ukrainian President rose to the level of an impeachable offense.
As long as that base holds, Democrats stand no chance of winning a conviction in a Senate impeachment trial and then removing Donald Trump from office.
Napolitano used to be a trusted voice on Fox News.
But critics believe that ever since Donald Trump did not offer Napolitano a seat on the Supreme Court, the judge turned into a vindictive Never Trumper.
And Napolitano could be using the good will built up over years of legal analysis on Fox to help Schiff by trying to drive a wedge between the President and his base that gets their news from Fox.
