Fox News Channel’s critics were celebrating.
Liberal critics waited for this moment.
Fox News may have a new boss after this boardroom betrayal.
For many years intrigue floated around Fox News Channel regarding its future.
Founder Rupert Murdoch has two sons – James and Lachlan – that were thought to be in competition to one day succeed their father.
That worried many Fox News fans as James Murdoch is a well known leftist that supports open borders, combating so –called “climate change”, and countless other trendy leftwing causes.
When Disney bought Fox entertainment, James took a position with the new production company while Lachlan – whose politics are more conservative – ascended to the position of CEO of Fox News.
Fox News viewers breathed a sigh of relief as the rumor was that if James Murdoch took over Fox News he would turn it into another version of CNN.
But it does not look like James is going down without a fight.
Business Insider reported that James led a “whisper campaign” against Lachlan in hopes of dethroning his brother from his perch at Fox News.
“In April, The New York Times reported that [Lachlan’s] remoteness had ‘intensified the perception … that Mr. Murdoch does night have a tight grip on the reins.’ According to a source close to the family, Lachlan’s younger brother, James, the once heir apparent, ‘is running a whisper campaign that Lachlan is not good at his job and that he doesn’t deserve it,’” Business Insider exclusively reported.
James is likely furious over Lachlan Murdoch’s continual defense of popular host Tucker Carlson from the left’s attempts to cancel Carlson.
In the interview with Business Insider, Lachlan Murdoch “called [Tucker] Carlson and some of his viewpoints, which he says caters to what many Americans are quietly thinking, ‘brave.’”
Carlson’s latest controversy occurred when Carlson relayed to his audience the numbers of the CDC’s website of self reported injuries that resulted from Americans taking the coronavirus.
Corporate media critics blasted Carlson as a “conspiracy theorist” and an “anti-vaxxer.”
But Murdoch dismissed this smears pointing out that all Carlson did was read numbers off a government website saying Carlson “basically just went into the CDC data … so there’s nothing the CDC itself isn’t saying.”
Lachlan Murdoch also rejected the claims Fox was a right wing propaganda network – as James alluded in criticisms on social media – by pointing out that both the left and the right have at times criticized Fox which Murdoch took as evidence Fox was in the center right.
“Obviously our opinion is center-right. We held our own. We were happy with where we were. In a strange way, if you’ve got the left and the right criticizing you, you’re doing something right. You really are in the middle.” Murdoch added.
In the last several months Lachlan Murdoch’s doubled down on pro-Trump hosts in primetime.
Dan Bongino, Trey Gowdy and Greg Gutfeld all have new shows on Fox.
Tucker Carlson’s role at Fox only grew in the new year as he hosts a new investigative series as well as a three times a week podcast on the Fox Nation streaming platform.
Critics contend that James Murdoch would like his brother’s job, and if James Murdoch ever ran Fox News it would turn into a CNN clone overnight.
