The polls are painting one picture of the 2020 Presidential elections.
But there is another reality that most of the fake news media is hiding from the American people.
And Fox News reported one truth about the 2020 election that took Trump by surprise.
The current Real Clear Politics polling average shows Joe Biden leading Donald Trump by just under eight points.
But the polling data may not be painting an accurate picture of the race.
Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace appeared on Bill Hemmer reports on the first day of the Republican National Convention.
The conversation naturally turned to the state of the 2020 race.
Wallace began by noting that North Carolina – where Republicans staged the business end of the convention was a true toss up, but that overall Biden led nationally.
“Well, North Carolina, obviously, is a toss-up,” Wallace stated. “I think you’d say nationally at this point Joe Biden is ahead. He has had a steady lead. Sometimes it goes to double digits. More often it’s more around where it is now, around seven points.”
But Wallace pointed out that the race was fluid and “is absolutely up for grabs.”
Wallace added that there was still the GOP convention, ten weeks of campaigning and three Presidential debates left that would determine the ultimate trajectory of the race.
The Fox News Sunday also made sure to point out that there was still the uncertainty of which direction the coronavirus pandemic would turn and what the status of the economic recovery would be by Election Day.
“You’ve got the Republican convention this week,” Wallace continued. “You’ve got three presidential debates. Who knows what happens to the coronavirus and the economy over the next 71 days? So, you know, fasten your seat belts. This is gonna be a bumpy ride.”
No one could have predicted the first half of 2020.
When the year began everyone figured Democrats impeaching the President would define the 2020 race.
But during four days of the Democrat National Convention not one speaker even said the word impeachment or mentioned the Democrats voting on the articles of impeachment making the case President Trump committed high crimes and misdemeanors.
The events that will ultimately decide the 2020 election may not even have happened yet.
While Joe Biden may lead by 7 or 8 points in the national polls Donald Trump is running much closer in the battleground states.
Donald Trump can lose the popular vote by up to five million votes and still win an Electoral College majority based on how the voters are distributed.
It’s a mistake to think Donald Trump needs to make up seven to ten points in the polls to win the election.
In reality he only needs to gain three or four points on Joe Biden to get across the finish line.
