After Trump’s campaign advisor called Kamala Harris an incredibly disrespectful name, Fox News banned him from their channel.
This opened a can of worms on the double standard between Trump and Harris.
Now, Fox News reveals their inexcusable double standard with this one action.
To many Americans, the name-calling, childish behavior of politicians has reached almost unbearable levels.
One can hardly open Facebook or Twitter without witnessing so-and-so’s latest insult to the President or his opponent.
And – much to everyone’s chagrin – another vicious insult has surfaced. But this one has opened a discussion on people insulting politicians as a whole.
Recently, Fox News announced that they would not be hosting Trump’s campaign advisor Harlan Hill on their show.
A Fox News representative stated to The Daily Beast that:
“We have no intention of booking him as a guest on any of our platforms.”
This comes hot on the heels of Hill’s particularly nasty tweet about Joe Biden’s VP running mate, Kamala Harris.
After the VP debate aired, Hill tweeted this strongly worded insult about Harris.
The tweet reads:
“Kamala Harris comes off as such an insufferable lying b***h. Sorry, it’s just true.”
Only, he did not censor himself. That is what he called Harris on the internet for everyone to see.
While strong political opinions seem to be a defining feature for all Americans and especially politicians, it is unacceptable to attack a candidate’s character simply because you disagree with their ideas.
One has to wonder if he truly believes Harris is that bad, or if he’s simply angry that her political ideas are different from his own.
However, it was his response to the internet’s anger about this tweet that sparked conversation.
When attacked for his offensive words, he responded with:
“You can say the most vile things about Trump AND his family, but don’t you dare speak ill of Queen Kamala
LMFAO.”
He raises a valid point.
In the wake of the President’s announcement that he contracted COVID-19, millions of people flocked to Twitter to wish him ill.
It is no exaggeration to say that people cursed his name and wanted him to die from this disease.
People were legitimately celebrating the President’s illness.
They want him to die of it.
But those same people rushed to Harris’s defense and demanded Hill recant his words.
They are talking out of both sides of their mouth.
They praise Harris on the one hand and insult Trump on the other.
Mike Miller of RedState blog stated:
“Donald Trump has been called everything from Hitler to Mussolini to the antichrist, devil incarnate, and descriptors too vile to put into print, and nary a word in protest has been muttered by the liberal media sock puppets for more than four years. To the contrary, they’ve instigated it.”
This Manichean way of thinking – separating all ideas into only black or only white – is neither helpful nor productive.
Instead, people must strive to refrain from insulting or cursing those they disagree with, regardless of what their political views are.
If Americans can achieve civilized conversation about even politics, the world will be better for it.
