Ilhan Omar is the most embattled Democrat in Washington.
The Minnesota Congresswoman is under fire for her seemingly endless anti-Semitic statements directed at Jewish Americans and Israel.
And now, Omar is facing an open revolt from somewhere she least expected.
Ilhan Omar is in serious trouble.
The Minnesota Democrat emerged on the political scene at the beginning of this year and immediately started to torch her political future.
Omar first went on a bizarre series of attacks centered on Jewish Americans and the State of Israel.
But that was just the beginning.
Omar’s past also came back to haunt her in a big way as old tweets began to emerge showing that she had strongly anti-Semitic views for years.
Omar has since also started to attack Democrats as well, with a series of comments even criticizing former President Barack Obama.
All of this has rubbed constituents in her district the wrong way.
And they may now be planning to remove her from office in 2020.
The Daily Caller reports, “Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar blamed President Donald Trump on Sunday after reports that members of the Minnesota Democratic Party are considering removing her from congressional office for her repeated anti-Semitic statements.”
“I am sorry Mr. @realDonaldTrump. I am for real, you can’t #MuslimBan us from Congress!”Omar tweeted at the President when news began to break that Omar could face a primary challenge in her district next year.
Democrats in her Minnesota district were stunned this year to see their member of Congress launch herself into a series of vicious attacks directed against Jewish Americans and even a former Democratic President.
And they’re now planning to take action.
“Minnesota Democrats are reportedly dismayed that Omar has made a string of bigoted comments about Jews, which have received massive condemnation from both sides of the aisle. Consequently, members of the state party are looking for someone to contest her nomination in 2020 and run a different candidate in her place,” adds the Daily Caller.
Omar has painted her district in an extremely negative light.
She’s also brought unwanted attention to her part of Minnesota.
All of this suggests that Omar could be a one-term member of Congress.
Should she be primaried, it would not be outside the realm of possibility for her to lose re-nomination.
After all, large portions of her Democratic base are already on the verge of open revolt against her, including several members of the district’s Democratic establishment, as well as Jewish voters who live within the district.
“Omar has defended the anti-Semitic statements, such as ones invoking Allah to expose Israel’s “evil doings,” and she is on record stating that Israel is not a democracy. She also gave an interview to a host that referred to Israel as the “Jewish ISIS” and mocked how Americans speak about al-Qaeda and Hezbollah,” says the Daily Caller.
Since then things have only gotten worse for her district.
“Omar announced in February that she is scheduled to raise money with the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) only a week after she used an anti-Semitic trope to claim Israel has paid for GOP support,” concludes the Daily Caller.
