When Kamala Harris accepted the position of Joe Biden’s running mate Harris thought she was the heiress apparently.
That is no longer the case.
And now Joe Biden broke this promise to Kamala Harris that will end her career.
When Joe Biden selected Harris as his Vice Presidential nominee Biden told People Magazine that he and Harris would enjoy the same close working relationship that Biden enjoyed as Vice President serving under Barack Obama.
“When Barack and I were working out our relationship early on, he said, ‘Do you have any requests?’ And I said, ‘Well just one: I get to be the last person in the room on every important decision,” Biden told People. “Not because you have to listen [or] do what I want. You make the decision.’ ”
Biden pledged to have lunch with Harris once a week in a similar arrangement that Biden had with Obama.
“[Like] Barack and I, we have lunch alone once a week,” Biden added. “That’s the deal when we’re both in country, which we’ll be for a while because of COVID, and I see her all the time.”
And yet as both Biden and Harris’ poll numbers cratered Biden’s avoided Harris like the plague.
Real Clear Politics Philip Wegmann reported the two had lunch just twice in 2022.
“And yet, according to a review of the president’s public schedule by RealClearPolitics, Biden and Harris have only sat down to lunch twice this year, a significant drop when compared to the 12 times they shared the meal together by this same point last year,” Wegmann wrote.
Deputy Press Secretary Chris Meagher tried to gaslight the public on the lack of lunches between Biden and Harris.
“The president and vice president are in constant touch with each other,” Deputy Press Meagher told Real Clear Politics. “And he relies on her counsel, partnership, and friendship as they work together to continue to grow the economy, cut costs for working families, rally the world in the face of Russia’s aggression, and make historic investments in our nation’s infrastructure.”
Biden skipping lunches with Harris is no accident.
The book “This Will Not Pass” by New York Tines reporters Alexander Burns and Jonathan Martin contained multiple anecdotes of the Biden team dumping on Harris.
Burns and Martin recounted how in negotiations over the fake $1.2 trillion-dollar infrastructure bill Biden rather rudely shut down Kamala Harris after Harris suggested spending even more money on this big government boondoggle.
The book also quoted Jill Biden questioning selecting Harris as Joe Biden’s running mate because of how Harris attacked Biden as a racist in the first primary debate.
Biden breaking his promise to lunch with Harris – as well as the reported slights against Harris in “This Will Not Pass” – are the Biden team’s way of signaling that they do not consider Harris the next in line and that if Joe Biden does not run for re-election other Democrats should feel free to jump in the race.
